Comeon now... you're spoiling the enemies game. We're suppose to just go out an brag on their forums and get owned. Reminds me of a Frat War.

Whats up guys... I hang out around the 94-95 section, and I had to come check out these claims of timeslips I heard about over that way. I just test drove an '05 this Saturday and I gotta tell you that I don't think a manual has anywhere near a 13.2 in it, never mind an auto. I'm raising the flag: :bs:

The 05 reminds me more of my 02 GT in shifting it and it's power band than the 4 valve motor. All and all it's a nice car and anyone coming up from an older GT is going to love it. If your coming into it from a Mach or Cobra you aren't going to be as impressed.

Maybe it's me, but the Mach doesnt impress me. The 05 is overall better car than the Mach. The 05 chassis and suspension is vastly superior to the Mach's. Power wise they are very evenly matched. It's going to come down to a drivers race between the 2.

The traction is vastly superior IMO. It handle a little better than a Mach or Bullitt but it's not an IRS class car. The 03/04 Cobra handles much better. I drove this car for an hour and had it to 110mph and near 100 from the dig at least a half a dozen times (600 miles on car). I didn't have a winding roads but exchanged expressway loops at high speeds and its a little more nertual that the Mach which is much better than my GT but those wanting IRS are going to say it stinks IMO.

It's a good platform to build from with it's improved traction, 2 1/2 inch exhaust, forged axles. But some of you have either not driven a Mach or a modern SVT product or your still in the "new love" mindset of car buying. This isn't about some "god" car to me rater it's the Cobra, Mach, or new GT they all have there +/-.

If your into the "motor" like a large majority of people that buy these cars it will be great if your coming from another GT but a let down to those with 4V motor since the new 05's have been given "super car" status by some.

It is the best chasis to build from I've ever seen. Go stright to the motor it doesn't need the bucks on anything else unless your a road course driver. Keep in mind "overall' to you or me are different. The GT's plain to me I'd have to get the stripes and the engine not what I would perfer. But for those wanting a 350Z type car this is much closer and would be the "bomb" of the GT series.

For you tall driver it's a big improvement there a good 6 inches to the roof from my 6" hieght. The car has everything high, your not going to be sticking your arm out the window while you drive with this car unless your very tall. The center console is very tall and was wierd having my whole arm on it but I adjusted. The seat are as good as the Mach and those with wider rear ends may like them a little better but they're almost the same. :flag:

The way I see it they're both winners. One car your going to be working on traction and the other the engine to achieve much improved times.

Many tests have said that the 05 GT is the best handling stang ever (excluding the R). I was very impressed with the cars handling, but would change to 285/40/18's in the spring. Power wise, everyone is mag racing in terms of the Mach vs GT arguement. Look at the dynoes, weight, and gearing...it should be a drivers race based on those factors.

Time will tell I'm on record and could be wrong but if I pulled a mid 13 in this car I'd be happy. There's a lot of hype now wait until the smoke clears. Mags tend to tell you what you want to hear. If Bill aka Mustang92 can only pull a high 13 on this car I think that gives us a hint. I drove on routes I know and I knew when this 05 hit 110 I would have hit between 115 to 120 in the Mach everytime. Mod it it's a great car and the LE's will be better. As far how a car can handle "Car and Driver" thought the Mach had IRS and bragged on it too, they said it's about time LOL. Drive it and tell me what you think and if you own one try to drive a 04 Mach/Cobra and be real. This isn't like were going from a Model T to present. It's more like my 87 to my 02 it's a change but not huge like some would have you think IMO.

You can trust who ever you like on these boards but I've brought 4 cars in 4 years and if this was "all that" it would be mine. I'm waiting for the SVT or other LE's. This is a great car and if your in this price range buy it!

I don't own either car, but did order a GT this week. The 05 GT I drove was simply better than any other SN95 Mustang I have driven. I test drove a Mach I when they came out and was a passenger in a 03 Cobra on a roadcourse. The 05 I drove simply exhibited a much more balance and refined experience. Granted I didn't push the car hard on the street, but it exhibited less body roll and was closer to being neutral than the 03 Mach/Cobra. IRS is great for bumpy roads and reducing unsprung weight, but the Ford did a great job designing the 3 link rear in the 05. The chassis is much stiffer and the steering more direct. The chassis and suspension is light years ahead of any stock Mustang I have driven. As for the power, I am pretty satisfied with the dynoes I have seen. A comparison of the curves shows that the Mach and 05 GT are very similar.

Hey you've got a great car. I'm not trying to be a jerk just realistic since I've owned Mustangs since the 60's. We don't drag race every day and for a daily driver it's hard to beat :nice: IRS is better IMO but you can see what I purchased :D and I could have got either on both cars. Dyno's are for tuning not too many of us run in 4th for 2500 rpms to redline and thats all that shows. The track is king in my world.............................

You guys have a great car too. This is my first Mustang; I bought it as a graduation present for myself since I am graduating with a BS in december. I would have loved to have IRS, since I am not a hardcore drag racer. I would have also wished Ford would have put HID's and heated seat on the option list. I think that the only way to tell which car is scientifically faster would be to line two good drivers up in a bone stock 05 GT and Mach I at the strip.

Boy that seems strang "Us Guys" are life time buyers and I'll have this car in some form in the future, maybe not the GT. I just wanted to express my thoughts. Welcome to the Mustang family no matter what Gen car you buy it's an awesome car!

I've heard of a guy with a 5-speed '05 at Atlanta Dragway running 14.7@96 MPH shifting the heck out of the car. From 14.7 to 13.2 with an auto just doesn't sound right. I'll host the time slip if you email it to me. It may be saturday before I can host it though.

Email me through stangnet, then I'll email you my real address back... I don't want to leave my address posted on here for long.

I want to see this...

We have had confirmation of a 13.69 run for a MTX, 05 Mustang GT (and several other runs by the same person under 14.)
The car rags are clocking 13.8 - 13.9 for MTS 05 Stang GTs
M/T clocked 13.6 for an ATX, 05 Mustang.

13.22 sounds a bit low for a bone stock ATX, but if conditions were perfect, it could be possible.

I've posted this at least 100 times before, but a Ford engineer told me (at one of the Mustang events) that most people will be faster in a ATX. It takes a really good driver to run faster in a MTX.

Those are sage words. There are so many timing issues in a 1/4 mile run with a manual that are not present with an auto. And looking at how good 1-3 shifts on this auto are it will take a very consistant shifting person in a 5 speed to match this auto I feel.

I will prove you wrong when I get my car :D

blah blah blah .... are you atx people really that insecure about your inability to drive a stick that you have to keep posting and beating a dead horse about atx. Run what you want ... thats why the option is there for the atx ... The mtx is the industry standard on Mustangs ... deal with it.

Ummm I am not ATX? I was just commenting on how the close ratio 1-3 shift on the new auto have closed the gap on the abilities of a 5 speed. No insecurities here. I was also trying to point out that there are more variables and driver consistancy (don't want to use the word skill) required for a MTX.
