well my friends bro got me a good deal on a pioneer hu for my mach 460. problem is i think he didn't do the install right and he's out of town for the next couple weeks. anyways the system has seemed to have loss all of its bass and it seems very high pitched. a cousin of mine told me that he should've used some kind of adapter. anyways, what do i need to fix this? and will this be something i can do by myself considering i have never worked on a car stereo before?

You need to find out if he used a harness or what he used to hook it up and depending on how handy you are you should be able to get it hooked up, get it apart and see what he used to hook it up and take pics if you can and that will be a good starting place. Good luck Dan

hey guys, i took a look at it and i saw several things that were not connected. first were two cable outputs (red and white), like the kind you see on a/v connectors and i think these came from the pioneer hu. and then there were several plugs that look like they came from the factory amp beneath the factory cd player. one was a small plag connector labeled amp. and the other two were the same size but one red and the other was black, they were bigger then the amp connector and had a label ford......hope this helps. sorry i dont have a digital camera avaliable to me at this moment. and my lack of stereo knowledge leads me to describe it like that.

OK from the back of the pioneer deck there should be a black plug that comes out of it into a harness, follow this harness into the car, it should attach to another harness in the car, one is a small square plug that looks metallic and black, the wires are grey and the other harness is a rectangular plug that should be grey and black on the plug. Both these plugs are in the opening for the deck not the cd player, try and find those and let me know what u find. Dan

i took another look at it and the only harness i could find coming out of the deck had a bunch of white wires. the plugs i saw earlier that were not connected were black and metallic, and the other was red and black, and one more labeled amp. oh, and i saw two wires, one blue and one black hanging out of the deck not connected to anything. one said grounding and the other said power antenna. i bet i could take a better look if i removed the hu but i'm such a noob i don't even know how to do that. i knew how to take off the factory ones, but i'm not quite sure how to remove the pioneer deck.

That blue wire is the system turn on if it is coming from the deck, you need it to tell the mach system to turn on, and the black wire is ground again needed for correct operation of the deck, you really need to get the deck out and see what happened back there and get some pics, you need the two flat keys that go down the side of the pioneer deck and they will release it, get it out and do like i said and trace from the deck back, and see what harnesses were used and which were not. At this point if you are not comfortable i would just spend the 50 bucks and have a shop re do it but it is up to you if you tell me what you find behind the deck i am more that willing to help you try and figure it out, pics would really help. Good luck Dan
