The Reenmachine DOHC '67 Shelby Clone Convertible Progress

When did you decide on the supersnake stripe? Last I saw you were using the LeMans versions.
I just dig the super snake stripes. That's pretty much all there was to the decision process. :p

What are you going to do for exhaust? Putting a hi perf exhaust on a vert is tough without the pipes hanging low.
I'm going to figure it out later!:D I'm ashamed to say that that's one of the few "I'll cross that bridge when I get there" things. Everything else is pretty much figured out.

I'm going out there to try and finish the front suspension this evening -- hopefully I can post pics later.

ya, they're nice alright! Did you see the Terlingua-ish pics that were posted here? He has them too...I sense a trend :D

I am waiting with anxious anticipation to see how you do the exhaust.

OK -- I couldn't get onto the forum for a while, so here are more pics finally.

The front suspension and brakes are on and they look killer.

Those are 12" rotors with 4-piston calipers and I thought they were pretty sweet. Well, a customer dropped off his '67 fastback yesterday for the same front end conversion and he wanted the 13" Wilwoods with 6-piston calipers. They're absolutely sick. They make the brakes in the pics above look like toys!

thanks for the info

I check out cars on the KAR site at least once a week

not to steal anything away from this thread, but I thought the "K.A.R. CONCEPT CAR: BUILD PLAN 1965 MUSTANG FASTBACK" looked like a pretty interesting car

Did you have anything to do with that ?

TCP does not make an X-brace for verts, at least not until they were bought out.

Yes they do. A later edition Vert SFC package has the provision and there is also an adapter piece for the old setups. It is necessary for the rear coilover setups.

Not a problem if you know how to weld and take your time. There is no reason why you cannot get it all up in the tunnel. Spacing the center plate down a little helps as well.

Yeah, they're building it there but I've been helping spec it out. I also went out there and did some development for the front strut setup they're putting together. It'll be a sweet ride very similar to several of the cars you see from fellow Stangnetters.

I just looked in three 2004/2005 catalogs and checked some websites. They don;t show that part. I'm guessing it is relatively new, wish it were an option when I welded in my Global West SFCs.

I've got a 2.5 inch exhaust, I tried to fit two pipes above the center plate with the stock driveshaft in there and it was so tight that any flex at all would result in contact, there was about 1/4 inch all the way around the pipes. My new driveshaft is 3.5 inch diamter so I'll have to give up on that idea. I shouldn't have much trouble with ground clearance though, since I'm not lowering it into the weeds or anything. I drove my 97 Cobra with a 2 inch drop and it was hell getting around town. Many driveways and almost all speed bumps were out of the question. I don't want to go there again, even for a recreational driver.

Without the plate in but it's in there, even with the "big" aluminum driveshaft:

Heck, even have an AOD, Fuel line, and a big battery cable competing in there with no trouble... and with the subframe connectors and transmission pan being even lower (even the rear diff being lower) there is no reason not to space that center plate down for the extra space.
