i found out what that ticking noise was!!!

so i called that number, which is wrong btw, but thank you for trying, they directed me to the correct number, which i think was 800-392-3763. lucky for me their computers were down and they wont be up for 2 hours. so then i call the dealership back and they tell me too bad, its not their fault, so i ask about the tsb that was issued, i gave the number that you guys gave me, and told them that dearborn told me this, little white lie lol. they put me on with the service manager, who said he knew about the tsb, and as it stands now they are gonna call me back with some new figures, he said he would help with labor but he cant with parts, "they dont make customers by pissing them off." he also gave some story about the tsb not being "for everyone" and if they have the proper tools...a helicoil done in reverse so that the metal threads get pulled up, not pushed down, that they dont have to listen to the tsb and they can fix the head however they want...now im waiting for a call...

thats what im trying to do, so far its been over the phone which may have been good, i dont exactly come across as a nice guy even when i am being sincerely nice. im curious how much they are gonna tell me a new head is gonna cost now, and i still plan on calling that dearborn number back and telling them what ford told me about not having to obey the tsb.

ok, heres the new news, the crap dealership says that with the price break, i can pay 150 for the heli coil or 1600 for a new head...karkraft sells whole motors for 1800...so no new head if im paying. i called back ford customer relations and they said they cant access tsb's, only the dealership will do that. well thats a catch 22 because if they give me the actual tsb then they would be forcing themselves to replace the head for free. so i now need to call another ford dealership to get this info from. if someone can help me get this information from another dealership i will be your new best friend.

OMFG....ford just called me back and said that the helicoil didnt work, and that i have to buy a new head...which will be 1600 bucks, plus they still wanna charge me for the helicoil, wtf, how are you going to charge someone for a repair that didnt even repair anything????? i am so f'n mad right now..i think im through with this dealership please help me guys...i dont know what to do!?!?!?

ok, the service manager called me back and said that i would NOT have to pay for the helicoil job, and that it would be stupid to have to pay for a repair that was not effective. he then told me that the discount he gave me on labor was down to $50 an hour, and that the job was a 12 hour job, do the math, at a total of 1650 for the entire thing, thats 1050 for 1 new head, b.s., so where do i get one new head??? he said that if i brought in a new head they would put it on but not warranty the part, who the hell cares im sellin this ****** now anyway.

12 hours for one head? Yipes!! I did my complete PI swap in 10 hours, including changing the oil. Mind you, I wasn't getting paid $50 bucks an hour to do it :D

seriously. My GF can change BOTH heads shorter then that time, and she can't check her own oil!!!. who do they have as mechanic? my cat?

Let me get this straight. They caused the initial problem. Then they tried to fix it and that fix didn't hold. Now they want you to pay to fix the problem THEY caused. You have the reciepts on the work done - right? I would gather them up and have a nice sit down. <I would> In firm words (not yelling) show them that they caused the initial problem and ask them to fix it correctly as they should have done to begin with. If they are not cool about it, get that thing towed out of there and either fix it yourself or have a local garage you trust fix it for half the cost they are quoting you. Then bring on legal action to get your money back. Good luck and hope they do the RIGHT thing for you.

that is everything that i have done, dearborn was no help and said that workmanship issues are only handled through the dealership, so if i want my money back i would have to go get a lawyer and we know that would cost more than what they are charging me. oh yeah, the 1000 includes the price of the new head and head changing kit. i did call a local guy i knew that owns a stang shop, he said he would the swap for 500, but he cant get to it until june, he's booked, so the 100 dollar difference(dealership will do the work for 600) would be evened out by the added cost of a rental car. are both heads identical? gef racing doesnt specify between the two but other sites do???

Both heads are the same, you just have to flip the cams around.

I met a guy on another that board that can get any Ford part for 10% overcost. He got my buddy a 03 Cobra lower intake for hlaf of its list price. This guy is for real !! I personally looked into purchasing 1 PI head brand new from Ford and with the cam included it was like $355. This guy should be able to do much better.

Check out that link for details and examples. There is also much positive feedback for the guy, I recommend you send him a PM and see what he can do for you. Then find a good local shop to replace the head for you.
