What is The best aftermarket shifter for Tremec 3650

I'll say i like my MGW a lot. I have the blue handle, and went with it becuase the MGW "sportsman" handle is supposedly the shortest shifting a mustang could have.

I personally LOVE STEEDA and STEEDA products, but I just went with the MGW over the Tri-Ax just because i felt like it at the time. I also had the MGW "GT" shift knob before it, so now my shifter is complete =)

I hear that the STEEDA Tri-Ax is really noisey and take some breaking in, to get used to. And dont listen to all the nay-sayers here. I have never used the Tri-Ax personally, but I just find that a lot of peoples opinions on this net are biased towards certain products for one reason or another...so do your research.

Back to MGW, i love the shifter. It DOES take some getting used to because the 1-2 shift is like going from 1-nuetral on the stock shifter :D So you have to get used to shorter throws, but when i get on it...you would think my car is automatic the shifts are so fast. :rlaugh:

I like the MGW blue. :nice:

ALSO, the mgw comes with EVERYTHING needed for the install. With a STEEDA tri-ax and pro 5.0 you will need to go buy the silicone sealant stuff. So that was one less hassle to do. And the MGW instructions are very straight foward and user friendly.

I have the Steeda Tri-Ax and I love it like all my other Steeda parts. There's a $10 gasket you can buy instead of using silcone sealent that also makes it less noisey.

Steeda Tri-Ax, MGW, Pro 5.0, B&M, Hurst and not necessarly in that order :rlaugh: . Any after market shifter is better than stock.

I chose the Pro-5.0 because the shift housing assembly is made of steel which I felt would be stronger for hard powershifting. All are probably strong enough as constructed but for the little extra strength I went with steel.

Like it says above, anything is better than stock. The best things to do is go to a sow or race or something and feel a few different ones to find one that has a throw and position you like.

The most popular are the Tri-Ax and MGW. A lot of people don't like how the Pro-5.0 sits in the car but everyone has their own opinions. Just do your research

I just finished installing the Steeda Tri ax 3 days ago. The shifter is great , i used the RTV silicon and there isn't that much noise like some people stated. Hell, i dont hear any noise in mine :) I guess self instal is always the best :nice:

i have the Tri-Ax on my mustang, but i don't know how long the throw on the stock shifter is tho.. i had never driven a 5-speed gt before until i found my car and it already had the shifter on it.. i dont have any complaints about it really.. i do have a hard time getting it to go in gear while i'm trying to shift fast, but it's probably just driver error and i will admit that b/c i've only been driving a 5-speed for 5 1/2 weeks.. but everyone has their own opinions about the shifters

How is the 1st to 2nd gear shift. I always seem to get this crunch with my tri ax and my stocker until the car warms up to operating temp on my TR3650

You need to go to the dealer and get the transmission serviced under TSB 04-15-6. Of course, having said this, I had mine done and my trans is still a bit notchy but it's no where like it used to be.

If the car is outside of warranty expect to pay through the bung hole for this though...

you shouldnt have that, i get a little click sound when the gears engage, but i dont feel any crunch(i used to in 3rd gear until i took it to ford and they rebuilt the whole tranny for me)
