302 to 306 Engine Swap What can I use?

Ok pulling the 302 and putting in a 306.
The engine is complete but does not have an intake manifold. The combo is GT40 Heads (Just how good are these?) F-Roller Cam, forged pistons blah blah blah compression has been raised. The guy I am buying the motor from, said he ran an intake from a regular mustang (5.0) in it?

My question is what can I use from my old engine on this one? Throttle body, intake manifold, injectors if I get them cleaned and flowmatched? Front cover, water pump, I'm looking to buy ALL brand new stuff, but I want to use as much as humanly possible from my old engine. The engine in the car now was pretty much shot, had low compression. Any sensors or stuff I can use?

Sorry for all the questions, but man I need direction.... :bang:
Thanks

Cool site btw.........

you can reuse everything.
the gt40 heads will produce mild HP, nothing overly amazing, but will do fine. I would go with a 65mm t-body, keep the cam, and use an RPM intake. 24# injectors and 75mm MAF will make a nice solid setup.

Thanks for the advice UMMM Tranny Question?

I was looking at running a C4 behind this? Would it be better to get a stronger transmission now? Car is going to be 100% street driven w/little to no trips to the track at all.........
Thanks

The difference from 302-306 is nothing..usually the overbore is done to clean up the cylinder wall for a rebuld..there is no HP to get had (actaully a lie..you may see 1-2hp gain) from the increase displacement. All items from that 302 engine can be used. As for tranny, you don't need any change unless your current tranny is acting up..the HP increase with the heads and cam will be nice..but fairly mild.

Cool THANKS!!!!!!!!!!1

This project is looking better and better by the moment. Last question would I have to upgrade the fuel system or air management system w/the engine swap? Also, I do plan on doing some highway driving, nothing extreme though. What would be a better selection of transmission?
Thanks

What tranny do you have in there now? What year is the car? 94/95 Automatic is an AODE. 87-93 Automatic is an AOD. 87-95 Manual is a Borg Warner T-5. All of these trannsmissions have overdrive which will be nice for driving on the street and interstate. If your gonna go with an automatic you might need a different torque converter with that cam. I'm not positive about this stuff so someone else chime in here if I'm wrong.

REUSE IT ALL, then upgrade as funds and time allow.

the overbore in some cases can help increase head flow, which will help make mo powa..........but nothing amazing.

and no, you dont HAVE to change any of it...... but, and intake manifold is a wise, wise choice.

f cam with gt40's, ASSUMING YOU HAVE ENOUGH COMPRESSION usually runs quite well.

i would highly recommend either a ported stock lower (search for user tmoss ), or a cobra intake (also lower ported by tom) for this combo.

should run like a raped ape with the right instake, and if you have enough compression for that cam to work well.
