i was told by a friend of mine that running a KB 1.7 at less than 10# will damage the blower so that it will not last long at all. i was planning on runnning 9# on my stock bottom end. is there any truth in what he is saying?? i dont wanna go too big and blow my engine. but if i cant run less than 10# i'm gonna have to go with another blower. let me know what you guys have done. anyone with a 9# kit and a lot of miles on it???

i dont think i posted this the other day. i was pretty drunk this weekend:cheers:  but i was thinking it was BS, but this guy works for a performance shop in my area. i had worked w/ him at the shop i'm at now for a few years, and he was always acting like he knew everything. i just wanna make sure before i drop 5K on a blower

I think your "friend" is full of crap. I have almost 23k miles on mine in the last 14 months. The blower is turning slower with the 6# pulley than with the 9# pulley. How is that going to "hurt" the blower??????

Just get the KB and you'll have no regrets. At least I haven't.

hes one of those guys who thinks he knows everything. we were both alignment techs and he thought he knew everything about front end work. now he has been working at a stang shop for 2 months and he seems to think he is the grand daddy super duper master tech of all stangs!!! is the blower really turning slower at 9#? it looks like it would be spining faster to make more boost? i havent meessed w/ many blowers yet so i am might be mistaken

A pulley makes the ratio that the blower turns. The larger the pulley, the slower and less boost it makes. That is why you go to a smaller pulley to turn the blower faster to make more boost.

The intercooler is mounted underneath the s/c after compression and the heat exchanger sits behind the bumper below/in front of the radiator. Its an air to water i/c. And you will not have problems running the kit at 9#. I don't know how that guy came up with that.
