Anyone else read this article in MM&FF?

there is an article in there where they test the pfab i/c tank. i was reading it, reading the temps before/after ice, i thought cool. then it came to the dyno sheet.

get this, before adding the pfab tank it dyno'd 347 hp, 315 tq.
they add the tank and ice, and 359 hp, 363 tq. :bs:

the "before" curve is a complete joke. at 3500 rpm's, it shows the car making 240 ft/tq, peak tq made at about 6000. never seen a curve like they show on an 03/04 cobra before. the after one is normal of course.

they obviously messed up on the graph, or dyno'd the car at a progressive throttle or something the first time  just wondered if anyone else saw.

Haven't seen the article in question, but I think you're right. Those numbers are way off. Even if they were using a Mustang dyno and a bone stock Cobra the nubers are still low.

On a brighter note those Pfab IC tanks are great for drag racing, but provide no benefit to the average DD.

U.M.

it was a dynojet printout. i dont question the tanks, they are useful for dyno pulls/drag strip. you cant keep ice in them for any length of time though, like you said, not worth it for a street car.

i was just kinda suprised at the mag for putting something like that in. heatsoaked or not, these cars dont put out numbers like that (the tq at least, hp is questionable) and with the curves they are showing.

I read that article today and thought it sounded like :bs:. I ordered the LFP reservoir yesterday so I guess I won't see the +17RWHP / +48 RWTQ gain.

Funny MM & FF did an earlier article on the LFP res, HE, and Radiator yet they said it doesn't increase HP only prevents loss due to excess heat. The Pfab reservoir is only part of that equation and they boast these numbers...
