I was driving a cobra r the other day, (talk about unreal, it makes my 06 look like a station wagon) and it had these great seats. Has anyone put other seats in their cars? My poor king cobra....I"m not sure if I am going to try and fix it stock, but possibly go with a resto-mod type thing. I won't hack it up, so it can always be put back to stock, but man, resto-mod would make it quite easy.
There was a nice II at the mustang show in sturbridge MA, two actually.
Thanks for the input,

Seats and a roll bar are in the next phase of my II's evolution, as well. I'm currently building a monster '88 5.0 H.O., but this time, I'll be notching out the tranny tunnel before I put it in :nice: -- that would be a good time to do the seats, since they're going to have to come out, anyway. And as long as I'm doing seats, I oughta do the bar, too. . . . and I figure I might as well go whole-hog and put in 4-point belts just for the Holy $#!+ Factor.

I am told that Escort seats fit, and my understanding is that Fox body seats should also bolt up.

If I want to do anything other than seats that bolt right up to the rails, I'll have to drill my rails out completely; I don't know how long my T-top shell was in the rain before I bought it but the bolts holding the seat rails down are completely rusted. There aren't even any discernible edges to the nuts.

I'm thinking about something like these ricing -- er, racing -- seats:

A nice pair of seats from a wrecking yard in these parts runs $250-300, BTW. Emphasis on "nice."

I'm also watching craigslist for a set of Escort or Fox-body seats, though I really like the idea of carbon-fiber racing seats with my black interior.

Anybody done a seat swap?

I installed escort seats in my first II, after the 351w and my right foot broke the first set : )
I had to re mount the seat rails from my II to the escort seat, however, it was nice to be able to choose the angle of the seat. mike78.

The Cobra R seats were actually made by Recarro. Mustangs Unlimited sells them for about $2400 for a pair. I know that sounds like a lot, but its pretty much the going rate for a good racing seat...Sparco prices are similar.

Corbeau makes some pretty good seats for less, but still pretty pricey for me. I don't see how the sport seats that you see for $150 each can be very well made...

I've always wondered if the Escort GT seats were a little narrower than the Fox Mustang GT seats. If they are, then they might be worth chasing down a set.
