Out of hand auction on Ebay!

  • Sponsors (?)

Was a '67 GT Fastback. 402 Roush small block, Worked C4 tranny, custom handbuilt stainless steel exhaust system and completely modernized interior. One time it was labled a Shelby, but nowhere was anything stated to help back up that claim. Besides with all the work done to the car any of that value had been lost.
The guy had a buy it now price of $7K. Somebody bid $1K so that made it full blown auction with no option for the "Buy It Now" feature. It took some time, but the bids finally made it to $10K. The next bid was then $50K. The bidder that put in the $10K bid then took it to $850K!!!!! Not to be outdone, somebody took it to $1,000,000.00!!!!! Well sure enough, the next bid was $1,000,100.00.(That is where the bids stopped before it was taken down).
I checked on the last 2 items the top bidder had purchased on Ebay...'67 Shelby 500(70% restored according to description, WAS #3113 in the Shelby/SAAC registery. Selling price was $55,100.00) '69 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1(16,714 documented original miles. Selling price was $33,500.00) So at least this guy has legitimate purchases on Ebay and was right inline with prior purchases.
The 2nd highest bidders last purchases on Ebay were $179 rc airplane, $19 Yankees ticket, $14 Yankees ticket, $2500 wrecked 2000 Ranger...who bids for a $14 baseball ticket then turns around and bids $1,000,000 on a car????? Is it just me or does somebody with that kind of money already have VIP box seats to games????????

The car was the Kona. http://www.ringbrothers.com/
Since they are building it. And it is owned by Doug Hoppe of Sioux Center, Iowa who commissioned the Ringbrothers to rebuild the car with one simple objective - to contend for the 2007 Good Guys Street Machine of the Year award. I seriously doubt this auction was anything more than either a scam. Or some idiots pathetic attempt at gaining some attention.
