2009 Camaro convertible debuts at NAIAS

I'm on the fence about it looks wise.

I am THRILLED that we will finally have big American muscle roaming the streets again from all the classic American vendors. Tired of all these damn EVOs, STIs, and 350zs, heh.

More muscle cars on the road is a GOOD thing, ugly or not. Hell the Charger looks like grocery-getter vomit but it's American grunt (even if owned by Germans) ;)

The release of the Challenger and Camaro I read may also get the Trans Am Series back up and running again. That would be sweet. Just imagine...with all 3 being the retro style, we CAN relive the glory days of high horsepowered American muscle.

Vert or not vert, its plain ugly.
I think of all the retro muscle cars besides the stang, the Challenger looks good also.. Attempts on making good looking car went to h3ll when Charger, GTO and Camaro were designed.

To me the GTO is nothing more than a high HP oversized ugly Cavalier!!!!! I believe the Camaro is to over the top looking. 5 years from now it may fit in much better. I will be a loyal Mustang owner no matter how much more bang for the buck you get from the other makers!!!!! So what it if the new Challenger and Camaro are 400 HP for $30K???? They're still not a Mustang!!!!! We sent them packing once already after losing the HP battle for years.

Other than being what looks like 20s...do these wheels look familiar????? NOOOOOO couldn't be, they're original Chevy wheels made just for this car...

Or perhaps to much like these?????

Hoboattacker I like it and I can bet you stock for stock the Z28 will absolutely manhandle the GT, just like it always has.

Edit: I would also wager that the SS will be a pretty good competitor for the GT500.

From my earlier post...

Despite the HP disadvantage, Mustang had ALWAYS managed to out sell the Camaro AND Firebird combined by nearly 3:1.

Besides, by then my stang will be running circles around those mofo's

The Camaro was outsold because of poor design and price of entry... All bets are off for the new Camaro since it's a new design, on a great platform (with IRS mind you) and will have some serious N/A horsepower motors to motivate all of that iron muscle.

I for one love the design because I know that in production those wheels will be history and there will be better mirrors attached to the doors.

Just to ad my $.02, I saw it in person yesterday. It looks pretty sweet and much more appealing than the silver coupe from last year. The big question is how much will it cost? Can GM keep it within $1000-1500 of the 'Stang or will it be $3000-4000 more when comparing similar vehicles (GT vs. regular Z28)?
