WTF possible pats problem?

I'm having a problem with my 02 GT.

I had recently (about 2 weeks ago) done some other work under the hood, and I had the wire that goes to the fuel pressure sender off?(thing that regulates the pressure electronically)

Anyhow while driving today the car stalled out on me, when I popped the hood that clip was disconnected, I connected it back and the car ran for a bit longer then died again.

I've put a fuel pressure gauge on the car and it reads Zero, the fuel pump is also not coming on. (yes the car has fuel in the tank, it is also not the safety switch in the trunk) Whenever I put the key in the gauges go thru a full sweep, the odometer reads nothing but dashes, the fan runs and the theft light flashes. I had my mechanic run a diagnostic with his snap on scanner (my predator and cheaper scanner would not work for some reason) and it gave a PATS error. (the chip is still in the key it hasn't fallen out)

Is there anything we can check or reset in hopes of fixing this or is a dealership pretty much the only action we can take?

Thanks for any help

two things are most likely the cause here..

1. Cluster fault.. The cluster serves as the communications hub for all the modules. If this network is down the PCM will not receive data from the pats transceiver and the car will not start and the light will flash..

2. A pats fault.

Many things can lead to a pats fault, from a bad fuse to a bad transceiver. You really need to scan this car with a Ford scan tool that can test network and perform tests on all the modules.

If you can get me the codes from the PCM and the HEC then maybe we can help you on here, but most likely you will need the dealer on this one.

Also.....PATS, my favorite system..... NOT!!!

One thing you can do is put the cluster in diagnostic mode and read the DTC's (which are NOT STANDARD OBDII CODES) because some of them relate directly to PATS..

Go here for the procedure:
http://www.bullittarchive.com/WebHelp/BullittArchive.htm

On the left go to Mustang Maitenance >>Instrument Cluster Test.

It might give you a clue as to what is going on.

You did try a different key?

Try resetting the "bad key" by turning it to "ON", no crank, and leaving it their for 3 minutes (actually 30 seconds, but just to be sure) and remove it completely.
Then try it again.

If not, it's dealer time and get out the KY Jelly......:owned:

I only have One key ... but It started up fine this morning .. and when I shut it off it did the same thing it was doing yesterday .. and while it was running I gave it some gas .. and it cut out at about 3000 RPM's almost like a rev limiter so now it is an intermittent problem:mad:
