All,

I would like to replace the Shaker 500 with an aftermarket radio. I did some research, and have found that if I do this, then my subwoofers will no longer work. Is there any way around this?

Or, when I go to replace my head unit, am I also looking at a replacement of the subwoofers in the door too?

Thanks all!

You can continue to use your subwoofers... the key is to get the correct wiring harness!

You need this harness:

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-fv191TR6OB9/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=103000&I=120705521

All the stock stuff will continue to function... the only thing is the subs will "pop" when you turn the stereo on... The stock amps are looking for a 5 volt turn-on... but the aftermarkets are 12.. doesn't hurt the amps.. they just "pop" when powered on... you can fix this by installing a 5 volt regulator (??)

What he said! :nice:

I replaced my Skipper 500 with an Alpine Double-DIN unit and the sub's work great! :D Matter of fact the sound quality in the car is much improved over what it used to be...

I'm attempting to do the same thing with my 06 model... are you 100% that this is the only harness i need to have my shaker system work with a new head radio console?
