Moneygrubbin, I think your worrying too much. There are guys trapping 125+ mph with AODs in their 1:1 gear. I'm saying your going to have to rev the car but your going to have to anway, you do NOT use your overdrive gear in any tranny at the track. I think your worring about running out of gear isn't going to be an issue even with 3.73s and a 26" tire.

If you check out my sig you can see what I have for mods to my 93.

Right now with a 100 shot it goes 12.72@109 and it has a little bit of gear left in it. Also keep in mind this is with the stock converter. I have a 3000 rpm lentech going in by Thanksgiving. I have 4.10s and a set of MT 255/50/16 DRs which I think are right at 26" tall.

I don't think that you'll run into gearing issues if your goal is low 12s.

Are you trying to destroy an AOD?? WTF?? Just unhook the TV cable and drive it down the street a few times, then hook the TV back up...mmmmmm, smoked clutches...it'll be destroyed!!

i want a 5 speed...i made a deal with my dad when i bought it...IF the aod ever goes south no questions asked im not putting another auto in it...i have a signed paper... :D also the deal was i pay him back first...i think i owe him like 900...was a lil over 3k at the start of 07...ill have him payed back by spring...if i can only get two things done to my car for 08 i want to paint it and go 5 speed....

Sorry I didnt read all the posts. If you have a stock converter and no shift kit it's time to get a stall. I have a 2800 stall and shift kit w/ 100+ passes at the track, each one of them at WOT. I went 150,000+ before a rebuild was needed.(soft rebuild)

The best way is too flash your converter. Bring the RPM up just a "hair" above idle then nail it when the light drops. Ive tried most ways but found this one to be the most affective.
