We pulled my buddy's enginee and pulled the heads off to move them to the refreshed shortblock. The id said E7TE but, the chamber the head was deeper than either one of us had seen before. Is it possible they were truck heads or are we just seeing things? There had to be 1/2 - 3/4" deep. The ones on my car were about 1/4 inch... He got a good deal on the car a few months ago but, spun a bearing. This poor car is so cannibalized. Lincoln block, weird heads, F-150 AOD, Unknown aluminum driveshaft, and a do it in your driveway 4:10 rear gear with major lash....like the u-joints are about to explode but, they are fine, It is a V-8 LX (title says so) but with 4cyl seats. Poor guy.....but he owns a MUSTANG!

I have a set of E7TE heads in my garage which have never been to the machine shop, and I just measured the deepest part of the chamber next to the intake valve at just a little over 5/8".

You could cc them - according to Kirshenbaum, the chamber volume should be 60.6-63.6.

Needing to correct its poor decision to change the heads for the 1986 model year, Ford realized the casting molds were gone for the pre-'86 heads. Fortunately, Ford found a solution within its truck division. The 302 trucks used a cylinder head similar in design and performance to the old wedge-type heads and, being a direct fit, the E7TE truck heads were matched to the H0 5.0L Mustangs beginning with the '87 model year
