So as a going away present to Afhganistan my fiance signed me up for the Pinks all out... The one comming to Infienon Raceway, CA in Sept 4-5. She gave $2500 of money to play with for this. I need help trying to figure out what should I get to run, strip down the car etc... This will be my 3rd time at the track with this car. Any help and ideas will be great guys thanks ! I need tires and rims for the rears too ! ONLY SLICKS! I know there is no WAY IN HELL ill even make the top 12 but just to be on the show and running against some of the most amazing cars in the area will be an honor all in its own !

hahaha thanks ... Im going to gut the car and use the performance tune I have.. but other than that, any one got any cool tricks... Im trying to find a set of slicks ! and get my 4:10s done !

Good luck. I made the initial cut for Englishtown in July, and don't expect to do more than low 12s. Just want that 5 seconds of fame while trying to qualify. I know I'll never make the final 16 either, but just for the fun of it. At least you got a shot of some cooler air!

If you have $2500 to put into parts, I'd opt for the 4.10 gears, lower control arms if you don't have them yet, aluminum drive shaft, cheap 17x9 wheels, adjustable drag shocks and 295/45-17 Mickey Thompson drag radials. Dump the passenger and rear seats, and remove the spare. Quarter tank of gas max.

4:10s
LCA
DRAG radials
drag shocks..?? What name and brand (I race autocross not drag)
Alumium drive shaft

THe car is pretty much gutted now... THe entire trunk is empty the back seats and passenger seat and I have the battery already located to the trunk. Ive even removed the left front headlight for more air to enter the car were the intake sits..(ive been riding my bike to work, gas is cheaper)

I dynoed just at 305 with my mods so I think mayby with the mods above as stated mayby just mayby high 12's ..?? I just want to break the 12 barrier !

GOD IM SOOOO ANXIOUS I cant wait to post pics and video !

If you're an autocross guy, nix the drag shocks/struts and go for an adjustable set like the tokico d-specs. You may want to get Steeda's tubular radiator support/swaybar delete bracket. It's less weight and you can remove the swaybar while at the drag strip, then replace it when on the street or autocross circuit (Steeda is the only one with a lightweight radiator support that allows use of the front swaybar--BMRs and others do NOT).

For autocross an aluminum driveshaft won't give you that much more of an advantage, so it might not be worth the expense.

Just have fun--I think you're on the right track.

Thanks John. I went ahead and ordered a set a 4:10s BMR lowers since I had the uppers. I already have an adjustable PH bar, and I cant decided wich tires to get. Im going to use a set of stock 17x8.5 rims as my track rims and just mount a set of drag radials or slicks on them. Would a shot of Nitrous help..?? I can get a tune mailed from Doug for it and its a fairly easy install instead of using the money for DS ! Just some though !

Nitrous would help, but the full kit (bottle warmer, gauges, purge, window switch, etc) is going to set you back over a grand easy. You might drop .8-1.0 off your time depending on the size of the shot. Either way, I would HIGHLY recommend a custom tune off a dyno, not a mail order tune. Others might argue if you're just going with a 75hp shot, but that's just me being conservative.

For tires that you can drive to the track on those rims, the stickiest will be MT ET Streets (the 26"x11.5"), followed by MT ET Street Drag Radials at 275/40-17. The Streets will feel a bit "light" as you go through the traps but that's just the nature of those types of tires. I ditched Streets a while back and use Drag radials now, and cut a lot of 1.6x 60' times...

John

With the MT ET streets i have to drive over 70 miles to the location for the race. Will they be ok to drive on the freeway ..?? Or should I just have the fiance follow with the tires and rims in the trunk of the SUV...??

John youve been awesome I think I know what IM going with now. Time to start putting it all together ! Thanks soo much ! Im going to get to the track as much as I can to brush up on my launches, I have an auto so I need to get it down perfect with in the next 3 months ! Thanks again for all the help !

Personally, I found the ET Streets a bit "squirrelly" on the highway, so I kept my speeds down to 60mph and tire pressure at 24lbs. Note that street driving wears away at drag tires so be prepared for that. In fact, that's one reason I've moved away from Streets to my favorite MT 295/45-17s which fit on cheap 17x9 wheels. They hook like the dickens and feel like normal street tires, even in hard cornering. I had a suspension collapse though recently (they hooked REAL hard that day) due to NOT welding the LCA relocation brackets properly and it tore up the tire in the wheel well, so I had to get a set of 325/45-17 M&H tires temporarily since I couldn't find my MTs in the preferred size at the time. the M&Hs, so far, seem to be pretty good, with consistent 1.6x-1.7x 60' times. M&H tires run very narrow, by the way--I think they are skinnier than the 295 MTs.

Have fun man, and keep us posted on progress...

Rich Christiansen is a schmuck with zero understanding to what makes a car tick.. The best episode I saw was his use of the sportbike to head to the end of the track after a race concluded, he looks at the guy who usually calls him with the winner from the traps and says "Is it fast" .. 5 seconds later he grabs a fist full of throttle and lays her down on the pavement.. Classic.

The owner of straightline here locally was pulled to the show before they switched to the all out format. The show was a sham, they play up the drama tryin to get people to argue, and in the end pinks are not traded, both racers left with their car.

I just bailed out from the show. There's no hope of qualifying since I've decided not to install the nitrous system yet, and frankly, I don't even watch it. The whole arm drop thing, fake drama in the pits, etc is just too silly for me.

I've joined the NMRA and will do my first race at Atco in August, and then get prepared for the 2009 season.

Good fellas and try to have fun.
