I went to the track on aug 1 friday , did my best 13.4 at 102mph with heavy 18x9 rims/tire up front. Back I change it to stock rims with mt et street.

Fist run was 13.4, 2nd 13.7 missed 4th gear  and last run was 13.6.
When I change all stock rims is hit around 105-106 mph but with fr500 and half tank of gas I could not get any better then 102mph. I set my front struts to 2 and 5 to back shocks. I have power for 12 high but cannot seems to get it, all the runs was at 4500rpm launch with rideing clutch. Fist run with 1.8 60' 2nd with 1.9 and 3rd with 1.9 low.

What am I doing wrong ?

And the worse part of the night is on the way from track comming home one s2000 was behind me and as I was going for freeway I took of at 2nd gear and at end of 4th gear at 110mph that fu**er s2000 pass me like I hit the brake .... WTF :nonono:

That s2000 must have some mod to take me out but damn , I don't think he had turbo or supercharger cause I didn't hear any sound but just exhaust or he might have ricer NOS.

Thanks

You got 1.9 60's on the same passes you got 105-106mph? That's definately enough power for a 12, but it may take a very good 60' time. I would think putting some drag radials on those stock wheels and going for a 1.7 60' should do it.

I've noticed the NA 4.6 suffers from lack of mid-track power. I always notice that even with a great 60' time and a strong mph, the ET is always a bit lacking from what you would expect. It has to be lost mid-track for some reason. (the 3v seems to be an exception)

I ran a 12.97 at 105mph with a 1.92 60' time. It took 12 passes in one night to finally make it happen. I couldn't get the nittos to hook for better than a 2.0 60' the whole night. Finally, the last 2 runs I loaded up all my crap in the trunk and tried again. The extra weight over the rear tires and heat in the tires was enough to bump me to a 12.97. Just keep practicing and get some more consistent/sticky tires on those stock wheels to use. Or, you could just spray it. :D

That goes to show how much wheel weight can play into the power issue. Do you have dyno sheets we can look at. I'm willing to bet you are shifting at the wrong parts of the powerband, which to explain what's going on. I would have to assume the S2000 had some decent power mods to pass you like you say, but all it could be at this point would be an assumption....

I will look for dyno sheet, cannot find it yet.

I do have mt et street on stock rims.

Well you are running the trap times to hit high 12's to 13's no matter what elevation you are currently at. Get those sheets, and what your shift points are currently and try to eliminate things as they come....

I think is 3200 elevation.

That may make it a little more difficult, but not un-acheivable.

To hit a 12.99 @ 102mph will take an incredible launch.

It can be done though.

If he can get his traps back up to 105-106 he has it made.

im not sure the elevation is at no problem raceway, bout 60 miles west on new orleans, but i was trapin 101.90 and runnin a 14.23. i still think if i can launch better i can get into the 13's. im basicaly stock except o/r x-pipe, weld in flows, & h&r ss springs. but i run with eagle f-1 ds-g3 295/35/zr18. i havin problems launchin right now. i guess i need to launch at bout 3500 and i might be good.

Well - those numbers seem pretty slow for your mods. If you have the 270 cams in you should DEFINITELY look into an aftermarket intake manifold. The body kit probably isn't helping you on the 1/4 mile. As for the S2000 - ouch. That's a tough pill to swallow. 17 by 8 inchers with Nitto's for the win!
