anyone with magnaflows, need your help

I had some Magna weld in muffs installed yesterday and I'm not 100% satisfied with their sound.

I noticed I like the sound of them when its around 2-2500rpm.
Idle sound is like or less than stock.
anything in between you hear engine/intake more than anything.

What can I do to make it louder?

off road X? H? Headers? New set up?

please comment

I have Magnapacks with a OR Bassani Xpipe. The sound it makes out of the tailpipes at high rpms is enough to scare women and small children. I can be heard from far far away. On the other hand i dont really like the sound of them and am considering dumping them for Flowmasters.

Your Magnaflows will get louder with time. And you need to get rid of the
stock H pipe. The Bassani X with high flow cats will up the volumne and
it comes with interchangable off road pipes if you want to go one more step
louder.

If you have the normal magnalfows then they are going to be very quite the magnapacks are going to be loud. I have the packs with a catted mid and it sounds great but too much drone on the highway. I'm going to be getting bassani mufflers to quit her down in the 70-80mph range. I would say go get a catted Bassani or BBK x pipe.

I had my Magnaflow with Magnaflow X w/cats installed and thought my head was going to explode at interstate speeds with the drone. I saw this thread and had my exhaust guy do the mod and it totaly eliminated the drone. he charged me $60 which is cheaper than the baffels. My coments are on the last page.

I've had the MagnaFlow cat back for about 7 years I think. It steadily got to be very loud over time. I'd never want anything louder.

The mid-pipe is no doubt restrictive and quietens things down. Changing it will make it sound better. The sound with the Magnaflow catted X is amazing. I get a lot of compliments.

When I was 1st reading this thread I thought "I don't know what to tell you". Then I found out that you still have the factory H-pipe on and i thought "Are you serious"?

I got my magnapacks shortly after I got my cobra and my car got a lil bit louder. Then I got my BBK o/r X-pipe and all I can say is wow. This is what these cars were made to sound like IMO.

All I can say to the op is stop playin around and get rid of that factory H-pipe. You should be able to find several videos with the differences between H-pipe and X-pipe sounds.

Oddly, I've had my Magnaflow with Magnaflow X w/cats for 6 years and have zero complaints. It's never loud unless I jump on it or it's in a parking garage. :D It doesn't sound at all like a "kid's car" so I am happy.
I never had a noticable drone like I did on my previous Mustang with Flowmasters.

I was told the drone is affected by the intake as well. Maybe because I already had C&L Plenum, true flow pipe, 85mm MAF, and CAI with BBK 75mm TB when I opened up the exhaust the flow was much better which caused 1800-2400 65-80MPH interstate speeds the drone up hill was terrible going down hill and level was not that bad. Also I have a convertible which could have an effect. If you have headers that is suposed to help. I still have stock logs.

I have MagnaPacks with the stock H pipe. At idle, they are pretty quiet but still sound better than stock. At mild acceleration through a parking garage, they will set off car alarms... At wide out, I can still see all the people in my rear view mirror looking at me...

An off road H would be great!

So I went with some of you guys opinions...
cats out, I got 2.5 piping all over, custom OR X

Car sounds awesome!
At cruising speeds you can tell has a mild exhaust until I go WOT
then it sounds like a high performance domestic should.
Deceleration sounds sounds deep with no back fire
Overall, its NOT annoying, crazy loud or raspy.
I will try to post vids of it during the week and let you guys comment

Mufflers do have a break in period, so they should get a little bit louder over time.

But I have magnaflows with the UPR O/R X. Sounds great at idle and low RPMs nice rumble not too loud. But if I get on it makes many believe the world is coming to an end.
