OFF Road X-pipe guys? (No Cats)

How much louder is the car? What do you need to change on the pcm so the check engine light does not come on?

Thanks

It's pretty loud but it sounds good depending on the type of muffler you're running. I'm running Magnaflow Magnapacks with a Pypes O/R X pipe and I love it !! If you want to get rid of the CEL, you'll need to buy a tuner and have the tuner turn off the rear 02 sensors. Easy ..

Like he said, turn the rear 02s off with a tuner. And it is significantly louder. With the stock H pipe, my violators were quiet enough that in the car you'd hear the underhood noise over them at high RPM. Now, it is obnoxiously loud and borders on annoying. But with a muffler that doesn't sound like crap with an X pipe (like Magnapacks, Stingets, and Bassani Race) it will still be loud, but sound awesome so it wouldn't be annoying.

I cannot reccomend violators and an offroad X. I know different strokes for different folks, but I think it sounds terrible. I can't WAIT untill I am sure there will be no more snow so I can take off my violators/X and put on my longtubes/x/Stingers.

It will sound pretty damn bad ... Obnoxiously loud, but bad.

I can't wait until I get the Kooks or American Racing longtubes and than my car will sound like this ...

I couldn't stand living long term with the volume of that exhaust, but I LOVE LISTENING TO that set up on someone else's car!! Sorry to sound stupid, but do the longtubes work with cats or are they o/r only??

No you can get them with cats or without cats. From what I hear, longtubes actually make the car quieter with this set-up (without cats) inside the car. My car will give you a headache from the resonation on long trips but supposedly with the longtubes it's supposed to fix that. Although it does make it louder outside. We'll see soon !! :nice:

Which one are you talking about, my current setup or my future setup? And do you mean bad as in bad or bad as in good?

I have also heard that longtubes quiet the car down a little. As far as I know though the Stingers will be louder than the Violators. Maybe it will even out. We shall see.

LOUD

Mine sounded like a freakin' top fuel car. I got a ticket from a California Highway Patrol motorcycle cop for being too loud. He was ticked.

I was running XPypes with no cats. I ended up ripping them out and installing magna flow cats and pipes. No more tickets.

The O/R X Pipe and Violators. I hear the same thing. I hear longtubes will take away some of the interior droning and trumpeting but increase the sound outside.

About a month ago, I went from the factory manifolds/Pypes O/R H and MAC mufflers to Stainless Works 1 3/4" LTs/SW O/R X with the same MAC mufflers. Before, it was insanely loud in the car and too raspy for my taste at various RPM ranges. After the swap, it was MUCH quieter in the car and the rasp is gone! I don't know if it got louder outside as the sound is much deeper, but it does sound sweet!!!!!

Did you break into the 12's yet?

I have off road x-pipe with mac axleback...it's extremely raspy IMO but it also depends on how hard you are in the throttle. I'd like to do longtubes and some sort of mid muffler set up eventually but my wife really likes the sound of the car and it gets many compliments when we are out and about so I guess that's the main reason I haven't changed anything just yet.

The louder car is running JBA LTs ,catted H pipe and FRRP mufflers.

Congrats to you, i remember you had been trying but didn't see you post a thread about and figured I would ask. 108 is a very nice mph, with just hte addition of longtubes did you notice much difference? I ask because one timeslip says 105 and one says 108.

Thanks! I didn't feel much in the butt dyno (need to get it dynoed again before I change CAI to see what the LTs did), but they must have done some good as out of my first five passes that day with full interior, three of them were 13.2s with the other two passes being 13.3s. I figured being .22 away from my 12.99, I went back to the pits and took out the passenger and rear seats. My first run after that was my best of the day at 12.922! I'm not quite sure why the MPH was so different between those two. They were run just over an hour apart.
