I've already searched the forum to only a few answers. Feeling like the rotor/pads will have to be changed sooner than later. I've looked @ Powerslot etc.. Damn these things are expensive. I've already gone with the eBay chinese $h*te with my Grand Cherokee, and never fawking again!!! If something needs to be replaced, then I'll try to upgrade it. Being Canadaian doesn't help much either because of the exchange rate/longer ship distance makes it even more expensive to buy. I found these on eBay tho:

Baer Brakes DecelaRotors Upgrade Kit *NEW 05-08 Mustang - (eBay.ca item 370153717537 end time 03-May-09 11:12:54 EDT)

I don't have a ship quote tho, and I know rotors aren't exactly light. This is my DD and do I need x-drilled > NO...............Do I like the added benefits and the asthetics of them > YES. Any other companies you guys can recommend? I know cheap and good are generally not used in the same phrase, but are there any good bang-4-the bux out there. Thx guys :nice:

I'm in the same boat. I don't want a big brake kit simply because I won't be able to run a 15" wheel so I just want new rotors, pads, brake lines, etc. So, as of lately I've been looking into various options. I think this is the best set-up for guys who don't want a big brake kit and don't road race the car hard .. The GMS rotors which are drilled, slotted, and zinc coated. Get a set of Hawk pads to fit your needs, stainless steel brake lines would be a good upgrade, and a quality brake fluid.

Granatelli 05-09 GT Zinc Coated Slotted & Dimpled Rotors (Set) [GM-BR0507N] : Lethal Performance, Performance parts for Ford Mustangs

If you can lay down some decent change, you could get a stage 2 upgrade kit from stoptech. It includes, rotors, pads, lines, and enough Motul RBF600 fluid for a complete swap that will retain the factory calipers and mounting points. That'll run you right about 700 bucks.

Personally I don't think the standard brakes on this car are that great, at least not on mine. Maybe a better set of pads is all I need. I have looked at the big brake kits but I want something that doesn't require me to change my wheels. I have the 18" painted fanblades.

yea, $700 is a big hell no - good deal or not! Hawk pads everyone uses, but any kind of higher performace pad takes so long to heat up, they're usless imo for a DD - i'll take the dust any day. Again, I don't 'need' drilled & slotted rotors, but if they're not too much more expensive, then I'll drop the hammer. Stockers will run about 2 & change for all four.............if I can get a set of slotted etc for under $400, i'll do it. With the hours that I work and where i live, I can't do the job myself either, so labour is on top of that. If I can go $700 out the door with a set of pads then I'm :rlaugh:. Thx guys for the opinions and suggestions. BTW, in a DD situation, s/s lines worth it? I would think no, but.................

I WENT WITH THE GRANATELLI MOTORSPORTS ROTORS. I GOT FRONT AND REAR FOR 299.00 FROM LETHALPERFORMANCE.COM PLUS SHIPPING OF COURSE. THEY ARE SLOTTED AND DIMPLED, THEY ARE NOT CROSSED DRILLED ALL THE WAY TROUGH. THEY LOOK AWESOME AND CAN TELL THEY MAKE YOU STOP QUICKER

^^^ now that's a fawking deal - now the ship to Canada and exchange rate is another thing :notnice:

the SS lines are worth it no matter what the purpose is. think about that minivan running the red light. you want to be able to stop ASAP, right? the brake lines will help that out by not allowing the lines to swell. when they swell, the pressure the braking system is creating is being lost. with the SS lines, all the pressure transmits to the pads, exactly what you want.

i have the J&M lines, and they are an exact OEM fit. by far the best lines available.

The link above to New Take Off is your best bet 39.99 is very cheap.

The most often overlooked part of vehicle braking is tires.

Tires with a larger contact patch stop a vehicle more quickly when all other factors are equal.

Since you seem to be planning on future needs, consider wider tires. Also you have to consider that since you live in a cold climate your tires have less grip, therefore stopping distance is increased. You may consider softer tires too.

yea, $40 bux is cheap, I can get OEM replacement for about 60ish here in Vancouver. I want to upgrade if I can as I always have with any of my cars/trucks. The s/s line are more of a want than a need, or $h*t all of this topic are "wants". The s/s lines, rotors I'll have to 'hose' the Sgt.Maj. on (the wifee). As I the way of tires - yea it rains a lot here.............A LOT! I have the crappy 17" wheels, and am hoping to hell that I'll upgrade to 20s before the tires are totally gonzo. I run all seasons, and snowies. Summer tires up here are good for literally 3-4 months out of the year. Thx a bunch guys :D

I went mainstream...ordered the Aussie sourced DBA rotors and a no frills stainless braided brake line kit from Tirerack. $650 or so.

The rotors are overkill for street use but they do look nice. On the track, with track pads, they rock. I am still stunned how well the stock calipers with, lines, rotors and coolers do under repeated, deep, late braking. It really altered my "mods" timeline knowing I didn't need a BBK right away.

I beat the hell out of them.

I keep telling people !! The stock calipers have some potential !! :nice::nice:

Ran the GMS rotors myself like others have mentioned for about a year. Had an issue with them showing rust and lethal was quick to make it right by replacing all 4, when I was only complaining about the fronts. GMS gave me a bunch of run around when I called them direct about it.

The rotors are a nice improvement both in asthetics and performance, highly suggest a set of hawk HPS pads and the fluid swap as well.

I still think hipo pads like Hawks are totally useless in DD situations. By the time I actually get to where I'm goin, they're finally hot enuf and work great............too bad I then shut off the car and goto work :bs:

I disagree. I used to drive a 2006 F150 that weighed 6500 lbs with 38" tires. It was a lot of momentum to stop with stock brakes. I upgraded to Powerslot rotors and Hawk pads after almost rear ending someone because of not enough brakes and they made all the difference. I've been running Hawk brake pads on my stock brakes including rotors, lines, etc since my car was brand new and they are nothing but amazing.
