Take a light and look down the dizzy hole...is the shaft there?? its held in place by a clip of sorts and may have fallen into the oilpan..
The shaft from the dizzy drives the oilpump...

That really sucks. If you can still see the oil pump shaft through the dizzy hole, it is possible to line it back up again into the oil pump. But if you can't, you'll have to pull the engine to put it back in. No way around it that I can see.

Pulled distributer shaft out and the oil pump shaft is gone so its in the pan please please tell me theres a easy way to get it back with out taking down the oil pan.I just did the pan in it and it cost me 6 hour shop time!!!

pull the motor or...

pull the wp, balancer, and timing cover off. now you can see straight into the pan. if your lucky it should be sitting some where around there. get one of those flexy spider hands or magnets from the parts store and grab it out. or you can stick it back in, but some one will have to help from top guide it to the dist. hole. person on the bottom has to get it in the pump.

just remember the clip is moved now so any time you pull the dist it might fall back in again.

You can just put in a new shaft, leaving the old one in the oil pan. I have a brother who has had a "spare" one in his pan for years.

Lol I was going to suggest that too. But if you have to drop the pan you dont need to remove the engine or K-member, lol. I was able to do it no problem but just jacking up the motor all the way and removing the rack.

well i got the shaft out but its shaped like a j know it must of bent it when i started it that would explain the ticking i hope it didn't do any engine damage?? i ran it for like 30 seconds before i noticed the oil pressure wasn't there.
