I am putting a T5 in my '69 an the trans has a Hurst shifter on it, but no handle. Can anyone recommend a good one? I kind of like the hurst handle CJ's sells for the t5 conversion, but I am hoping to find one cheaper. Anyone know what the specs on for a good fit for a handle? I was kind of looking at this one HURST #538-0179, but I am not sure it will end up in the right spot. Any info or opinion would be greatly appreciated.

HURST #538-0179 is one of their shift sticks, but I am not sure of the length or bend that would work good in a classic Mustang. Hoping someone has used some of them and can put in their $.02 worth. I really don't want to do trial and error. The car is alomost done and I am running low on funds, so I think it will be a one shot deal.

Thanks

The shifters for the late model cars don't work will in the vintage Mustangs, because the shifter is not located in the same part of the car. Those later model shifter handles will cause you to bang your knuckles on the dash.

I got a shifter handle that looks like a factory 4 speed handle that is for T5 conversions.

my late model pro 5.0 shifter handle works absolutely perfect without banging nuckles.

It is a bit of a reach...not an urgent issue, but I'll probably buy a handle that's set back more.

+1 on this. I am using one of these modified shifters and it works out really well. It's located in the perfect spot and it looks factory unless you get close enough to see the #5 on the ball.

Take a look at the Reenmachine shift handles for the T5 conversions. It is supposed to place the shifter in a more comfortable location for daily driving and it looks decent too. Definately unique compaired to all the other stuff out there.

Its a specialty part. Its made to put the shifter in a comfortable and easy to reach possition. Its also made of billit which means it will cost more.

I'm not saying its the best thing out there, I've never even used it. I just know that the people who have bought them, really liked them.
