Okay ive got my 331 lx mustang im building up but for my daily ive got a 91 Lincoln Mark VII witht he 302 auto. For mods ive got

Shorty headers
No cat hpipe
blowmasters
gt40(explorer) upper and lower
sn95 fuel rail
accufab AFPR

and stock e7's was wondering how a trick flow stage 1 cam would go with that setup the cam is out of my 306 low compression motor from the lx.So it would be a free mod just wondering if it would be worth it and what would all be needed to throw it in.Like Do i have to adjust the rockers now?Or do i still just torque them down?

You really should just leave the stock cam in there, because any cam you put in there will not work well with your combo. If you at least changed the heads to say some iron gt40's you could use a small cam like a B or E cam. But, just throwing a cam in there would through you combo way out of whack. If you really want to throw a cam in there you could go with a B, E, or tfs stage 1 and the car will still be street-able, and you may even notice a power band shift but it just wouldn't be optimal for the heads and intake you will be running.

At least that is what most people will tell you. I got my car stock with a B-cam in it and flowmasters and it pulled like a mother f'er and sounded MEAN, so would I have taken the cam out and gone back to stock, hell no, but I don't know if I would have gone in there and changed the stock cam.

Cam's themselves aren't too expensive, but you need to get through a lot of things to change them so you mine as well replace those things, ie. timing chain, water pump, timing cover seal, and obviously will have to change all gaskets. But changing those things isn't a bad thing so if you can afford the extra stuff go for it. Most people will also advice you the cam and check p/v clearance on YOUR application, you shouldn't have a problem with the tfs cam but there are many variables in each engine that can change it.

Are you going to be running stock rockers or RR's?

WAIT is this for your Mark VII or 331?

the stock HO cam isn't a bad piece.

even with gt40 heads, it's still a good match.

leave that stock cam in with your stock heads, you're just begging to lose low end by swapping out a cam.

if you get gt40 heads, I'd suggest the tfs 1 cam.

I've got a b cam in my 66 mustang, and I'm not sure I like it...it opens up like a ****ing vtec engine at 3500 rpm's +, but sucks down low. the tfs 1 cam had a much better torque curve.

In my opinon, if it's free, why the hell not. That cam is a little much for your combo and you probably will lose a little down low, but plenty of people have done similar swaps and have had good results.

Ive got the 70mm throttle body and the car is being converted to mass air.And ive got a 3200 stall and either 4:10's or 4:30's are going in:p.Only because i dont drive the thing on the freeway ever.Id rather have it move out decent up to 50mph or so then be a freeway cruiser when i never ever will be seen on the freeway.Seriously i think its been 3 yrs since ive driven on the freeway.Otherwise if i do i just drive my escort since it gets way better mileage already which im not worried about mileage but id rather not turn my motor 3k rpms at 65 with the 4:30's

for the mark VII so just a 302,yeah stock rockers also will i need springs? And i thought the explorer intake would be a good match seeing is its pretty much the same as a gt40/cobra intake.

I have heard of them being used, but I never read or saw a follow up. dont know how well they work. LSx springs(stock) are notoriously crappy anyway and are prone to valve float. get gt40 springs. they will handle pretty much any ots cam.

In the heavier Cougars and T'birds with the 5.0, Ford spec'd the Cobra cam because it gave a bit more low end torque to move the heavier car. That's one option. Another I'd explore is Comp Cam's XE258. Just be sure your heads have the appropriate springs for the camshaft you end up using.
