Oh boy.

The honeycomb trim was there for a reason. You're not going to get better aerodynamics. In fact, you're going to be producing quite a bit more drag. Second, "cooling the plenum" isn't going to do squat as far as increasing HP.

Personally, I think you should put the honeycomb trim back in. Cutting the hood is a really bad idea.....but its your car.

Your engine is slanted up slightly so rain is no going to hurt it, it will just run off to the ground:), so air wouldn't hurt it but, yea, w/that type of hood scoop you are going to create some drag, but so does driving with the windows down, your not trying to build a drag car are ya. I say, and this is my opinion:nice:, find the billet depot or Upr and put the metal screen in there, problem solved:D. The best way to cool your engine is the coolant, and I still say heat soak is a myth:p, your plenum hot or cold is not going to change the temp of the air, it stays constant when it enters the MAF sensor and the air temp sensor:nice:.

thanks guys i really appreciate the input, i took the honey comb off and threw it out. dumb move i know....im gonna cut the hole and if it doesnt work out im gonna just have to have an excuse to by a cowl hood which is what i really want. as long as its not gonna hurt n e thinhg electrical i feel its my best bet.

If what you want is a cowl hood, why don't you just bypass the whole cutting a hole in a perfectly good hood and buy the cowl hood you want? Then, you can sell your hood to help offset the price of the new one.

This. It looks like crap when people modify stock hoods. Buy a fiberglass cowl hood and do it up right... save the front end weight, which is more of a benefit than the "cowl cooling". Then sell the stocker.

It is normal to want to make the hood scoop functional, it is wrong to actually do so.

and +1

IMHO, the only time one should cut an opening into the factory hood, is to create said opening for a shaker kit. :nice:
