Trunk Release Wiring

I have a '88 mustang hatch, that we put an alarm system on. We'd like to have the ability to pop the hatch off the key fob with the alarm system. the installers said they looked at it, but the fact that the trunk release button works only with key on, they said they couldn't get it to work.

Anyone know how to wire it, so it works with Key off, so we can have the remote function work?

thanks

Wire the output source from the alarm to a tyco relay to activate it. Run "hot' power to the switched contact of the relay and from the relay to the trunk latch. There is no need to disconnect the existing wiring since the relay is going to keep anything from back feeding.

This is how I do them.

It'll be wired something like this:

30 and 86: fused battery power.
87: To trunk release (it's the side that does not have constant key-on power)
85: Momentary input from your alarm (many have a negative 500 mA trigger).
