I need motivation..............

Well you could be like me...my car is in painter jail for 20 with an L. God knows when it'll be back on the street. Spring is here, i see them out all the time. The imports are out in force and i have nothing to fight back with. My DD is a GD Festiva....how's THAT for motivation?

This is a longer read...

I know what you mean about motivation. I was the same for a long while. My 92 was in the friggin pits for a very long time. Stupid suspension work sucks ass, especially when EIBACH didn't send all the proper hardware. Made me keep on guessing what the hell was wrong. One day I finally got all the correct info together, figured what I needed to do and got off my ass and started working on it. I started finishing EVERYTHING. When I got done with one, I went to the next and didn't even think about stopping till I was friggin done. Every damn part I ever ordered has been installed except for my gears. And believe me when I say I had a huge pile of stuff lying around.

For one thing, you won't be as motivated to do any work if you don't know EXACTLY how you're going to get it done, in what manner you do it and all the parts/tools needed to do so. If you aren't exactly sure on something, figure it out first. The biggest bummer of doing a project< no matter how big or small, is when you aren't 100% sure on something. Being unsure is enough to bum me out and keep asking until I am 100% sure. That was one major setback for me. Not having the correct parts (thinking that I did but something was wrong), info that just doesn't match. I would try something then get bummed out more because it didn't work properly. Don't be thinking about everything you have to do. Think about only one part of the project at a time. Pick one part that you feel the most inclined to do. One that you know will get done without any bulls***. Finish that, then move on. Don't try and focus on everything that you have to do. Once you finish something successfully, THEN you will be more inclined to start another part of your project.

One of my problems was that I started 2 - 3 jobs at once. Ran into trouble with two of them and never completed the third because I was so busy trying to figure out what to do with the other ones. Get your priorities straight. Don't just go up there and look at your ride thinking about what it needs or what is BS... start workin on it. You can do it. If you don't know what to do with one, pester all the SN members here for advice.

Yeah, it was just in the friggin 40's .. now it's up in the 80's. Sheesh I like to work on it in the mid evening when the sun drags behind the trees next to the house. I can't stand the hot ass sun beating on me. Only thing about the evening and later on are the blasted mosquitos. Mosquitos love Florida. I have found a way to beat that. I used to not work out later because I hated using DEET. That stuff is for the dogs. What I found that works so well, I use Axe body spray ALL over. Hehehe. Man I'm tellin ya, it works. Buggers leave me alone after that... AND... I dont stink when I'm done 4 hours later.

We don't have Spring anymore...it goes from being freezing ass cold and snowing to 80s a week later. I think we had one solid week of 50s-60s and then BAM 80s and humid as hell.

it is hard to stay motivated i try to do one thing each day some days it is really hard to get going but i have been at it now for two years and four total but i gave up on the previous rust bucket.my motivation is the woodward dream cruise i would like to have a running car by then.i don't think it is going to happen but i hope.keep chugging away at it.

I agree.....its hard to stay motivated. I did alot to my mustang and havent even got to take out of the garage yet. Suspension is done, 5 lug cobra disc done, Tremec tranny, rebuilt rear. Didnt even get to drive it yet to see how different it is. Been 2 years. Smoothing engine bay now...the best I can. Then paint after I save up more money. Moving out of my parents house didnt help the cause either.

I noticed the longer I stay single the better off the Mustang becomes. Pretty weird huh? Just seems like I would rather sniff around a new girl then get this car done.

I think I'm just gonna do things as I can. I am gonna finish the grand prix and do little things on the Mustang. I bought a quart of paint for it so this weekend the plan is to cut in all the jambs. I want to get it painted, and make it driveable then drive it home and finish the interior and trim. I'll work on it at my leisure....during free time. In December I said by April it'd be done, but I don't even care right now. I think June is fine. If it's sooner, cool.

I thought my t top coupe would be finished a year ago as well. the good news is if you dont finish it so much cool stuff comes out that you can always change your mind. Ill probably intalling a flux capicitor in my car by the time im done with it.
