Difference in 94-98 doors?

A few months back, I bought a 95 SVT Cobra. The previous owner told me that the car had been hit in the passenger side door and that the door was replaced. I've noticed that there is a 1/2" gap where the side scoop area is. It's like the scoop area is deeper on the body than it is on the door. (see pics). My question is: Are there different doors within the 94-98 year range? Or a difference in doors between the GTs and Cobras?

You can see in the attached pics that the driver side door fits perfectly, but the passenger side has the gap in the scoop area.

If you compare the left scoop to the right. you'll notice a differance.
Most likely the body shop only replaced the door and didn't mess with the quarter panel which is pushed in.
Sooo the door is right where it's suppesed to be and the quarter panel needes fixed.
94-98 doors are the same.

X3, doors are physically the same. There is a minor wiring difference depending on the sound system - the Premium Sound and Mach 460 sound system doors are wired the same (Premium Sound has the tweeter plugs taped out of the way), but the standard sound system has slightly different wiring. This difference is only in the speaker wiring, the rest is the same.

desertcox05, you nailed it. :nice: After reading your reply, I went out with a piece of clear plastic sheet and a Sharpie. I put it against the driver side scoop and traced the shape. I compared the shape to both doors and it was a perfect match, but when I placed it against the body on the passenger side, it was off 1/2 in. Whoever did the body work did a good enough job that you can't tell it was ever done, but they just didn't do a great job at shaping it to the door. Good eye!

Thanks guys!

might also be a lower door hing issue. The area the hing mounts too may be out of wack as well, or even hing damage. If the lower is pushed in further than it should be the lower rear part of the door would be pushed out as what was once level/square/aligned is no more.

That or like said that lower part of the rear qrtr is still further in board than factory from the accident.

blksn955.o, you are also correct. While there has been body work done to that scoop area, making it shaped deeper than the door, the lower door hinge is also damaged. There is a crack in the weld, causing the door to hang a bit.

Just more items for my list of things to do. LOL! I did, after all, buy this car as a project car. It will be a "work in progress" for a couple of years.

The next thing (body-wise) will be to replace the front fenders. They are warped and bowed at the front, causing the sides of the bumper to flare out, instead of fitting in a nice tight seam, which in-turn, is pushing on the headlights and corner lights, making them fit badly.

The car is pretty much a Frankenstein. It's got replacement parts everywhere, not all of them installed very well. Oh well, I've never walked away from a challenge. Why start now, right? :D
