shifter question for my T-5 to c4 conversion...

I finally blew the t-5 thats behind my 393 last week. I'm trying to save money at this time in life so I don't really want to buy a trans right now. I have a c4 w/tq converter sitting here that has been rebuilt w/a shift kit already installed, I got it with a donor car I bought a couple years back, it shifted perfectly then. I figure I might as well use it in the stang as it's sitting here Free. I don't drive the stang too much as it's not my dd, it's more of a fun weekend car & I just want to get it drivable soon.
I've searched the forum & I can't seem to find the answers that I need.. I have two unanswered questions...everything else I'm good on I believe.

#1> can I modify a stock sn95 "aod" shifter & cables to run the c4? this c4 was in a car that had a "column" shifter..(I know I can buy an aftermarket shifter but again, I'm trying to save money right now & I can get a stock shifter from the local jy for cheap if that will work....I just don't want to waste money on a jy shifter if it won't work)..... trans has a standard valvbody

#2 how do I hook up the detent cable? it was run by a rod to the carb before. the throttle body has been converted to the foxbody style on this car.. . Thanks in advance for any help & insight anyone can provide.

i have an AOD, not a C4, and still have the 94/95 throttle body, so this might not help much, but i was able to use the unused boss on the TB and fab a couple brackets for the kick down cable. i'll see if i can find my old thread about it if you think it would help

oh, and there is one other thing to keep in mind ... the neutral safety switch. if you don't do anything about that, the car will not want to start. i ended up jumping mine at the harness connector near the firewall on the passenger side. not the best solution i know, because the computer probably thinks it is always in neutral, but the car starts at least.

I looked thru that thread....gave me some really good ideas, Thanks man, I really appreciate it!
as far as the cltch switch, I'm leaving the pedals in there for now but I'll probably jumper wire that switch like you mentioned just so I won't have to push the pedal every time lol.... idk how long I'm gonna keep it auto, I really love a stick but I have this free c4 sitting here so I think I'm gonna enjoy it for a while as a three speed.. should be fun around town. :flag:

i know you can get the B&M hammer shifter with the c4 conversion kit brackets.

I've seen those & just might pick one up intead of trying the stock style. I'd like to keep it stock looking, might even put a boot over it so it still looks like a stick...idk, we'll see. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.

i'm looking for a T-5 really bad is yours rebuildable if so would it fit a 1972 mustang 302 block and would you sell if so how much delivered to 53913.

I'm sure it's rebuildable but it won't be cheap. I snapped something inside...not sure what yet. I think I'm gonna hold on to it for now.
honestly, even if I would sell this one....by the time you buy it & pay for shipping to you....then have it rebuilt... it would be alot simpler & cheaper imo to buy one thats already been rebuilt.... check the classifieds here on SN, the corral forums classifieds & on ebay as well. just a thought. thats what I'll be doing when I decide to go back to a stick. :flag:
