weight reduction..things I am considering

I have compiled a list that imo are not needed for my car to function the way I think it should, keep in mind I'm not interested in going fast around turns...so here is what I am considering removing

rear sway bar
convertible k-member brace
25lb weight found in convertibles behind the passenger fender(wtf)
Front sway bar
metal plate under steering column
windshield washer tank
rear end dog bone
mach 460 amps and racks (don't work anyway)
black boxes behind rear tires
radiator cover
quad shocks with brackets
Switch from my brake calipers to 99-04 brake calipers (saves 16lbs total)

Things I plan on later down the road

Tubular k member
tubular a arms
tubular rear upper and lower control arms
aluminum driveshaft
rear seat delete (lol and you thought the rear seat in your coupe was useless)

After all is said and done we are looking at around 400-500lbs of diet

So any reason why I should not do some of these things? Let's face it these npi's need all the help they can get and my main reason for this is that I wanna get my auto vert into the 13's on motor and I think with this weight reduction plus full bolt-ons and cams may get me a low 13 if I can drive worth a damn.

dont waste you time on the radiator cover, or the 2 black boxes, there honestly less probably less then 1lb all together, and it will look like somthing missing with no rad cover, and the black boxes are actually there for rear end collisions.

take a dump before you race, that will be more weight then the rad cover, and black boxes put together

Hey I know from reading about your ride on modularheadshops website that you shaved quite a bit of weight off of yours as well, so is their anything not on my list that I could delete that won't take sway from the functionality of the car.

Another thing to think about... but some drag cars benefit from having a rear sway bar. It supposedly helps to load the left side tire, because as you know, the right side gets loaded more heavily as the rear end produces a torque. I think the stock sway bar is puny enough it doesn't make much difference, but if you start spinning the left tire on the launches, consider putting it back on to see what happens.

I actually did not know that...Thanks for the info, I'll see how it runs once I get a few more mods and am comfortable with what I could possibly run at the track

Weight savings is definitely where it's at. What seats do you have in your car? If you have power leather seats, the driver seat weights over 60lbs itself. Might think about getting you a cheap plastic seat to swap in for race day. That's what I plan on doing anyways. I plan on keeping my rear seat and all, but come race day, take out front and rear seats, and put an aluminum kirkey seat in the driverside. Just food for thought.

you'll drop about another 36-40lbs if you loose the a/c, lines and accumulator..

you have a vert so whats the point in having it anyway right

also consider removing the front and rear bumper supports.. the rear will net you roughly 46lbs with the brackets, foam and crash bar. The front will be in the 15-20lb range..

i would only recommend driving without the supports only to the track though...DDing with them out is sketchy... Donathan racing makes a nice front bumper support that weight about 3lbs

No way in hell I am deleteing the a/c lol...It's gets so hot and humid here that even with the top down it's terrible.
