Anyone seen "Born to Race"?

Yep, everyone in the town seemed to have some kind of hot-rod or performance car. If I found a town like that, I'd probably go live there and open up a performance shop, too. Though maybe not as action packed or as cool as Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, I liked the car stuff more in this movie because the races looked more realistic (no CGI). Plus, there weren't really any glaring inaccuracies like "Manifold breach imminent" (computer screen at beginning of Fast and Furious) or "pff... Amatuer"(for spraying apparently too early), doing wheelies on apparently loose dirt, etc...

No problem. I looked for someone else's thread already, but I guess it wasn't that popular.

Dude - you couldn't be more right! I'd move there too! Only thing I thought was how'd that Mustang get such good traction outta the hole with 20s???!!! A 10 second Subaru would've left a much larger gap between itself and the Mustang than that? Guy was running low 10's on 20's??? Is that possible even with a drag radial?
Decent movie though, I enjoyed it.

I also liked the good sportsmanship theme at the end, too. I definitely like to talk ****, like the dad doing the line "you've got a new car? Oh, I didn't recognize it cause I've only seen the front from my rearview mirror." But, even though it was kind of the cliche ending to give the good guy a chance to be a hero and all, but you saw the two dads walking down the track together, too. I like a good race, and to me, while nasty rivalries can make things interesting, I definitely prefer the good dudes that'll just shake your hand after a race.

To me, this movie has the best portrayal of how street racing can be a lot of fun. The first street race ends in a wreck showing that it's not safe to street race the way that one was done. The Dad was constantly harping on his kid about not street racing - loved the "Who do you think you're talking to?" line. But, he was also realistic about the fact that street racing was going to happen and told his kid to do it only when no one else is around.

No way I would've sold that Buick, or my mustang for that matter, though. I might have loaned it to the kid for the races, and then helped him raise the repair funds after the fact...

The movie was just fun, and really captured a lot of the lifestyle. You can tell that the writers either were real hobbyists themselves, or consulted closely with some.

Not great, but not horrible. At least V8's got a few props in this movie, unlike TF&TF franchise.

Still some pretty unrealistic stuff going on (like what looks to be an easy 9-second Nova...full race slicks, wheelie bars and all, losing against a Mustang in street trim....on 20" street tires no less) , but what do you expect.

Still though....after wrecking the STi, he should have sold it and sunk the money into his dads GN. It looked to be an already easy 12-second car. Sink the cash he could have made on the STi into it and he could have had an easy 9-second ride. But...whatever, it's fiction.

That literally is my town, we went for breakfast in the old town part and watched the 68 RS camaros, gt350's and even a dusenburg while having bacon. Good times, let me know if you need help moving

Also is my town literally since now I know what they were filming that day at auto club speed way when we were there. The whole movie is based around our immediate area, I even have "watched" on the very street that those races took place in the beginning of the movie

Good to have you back, man :). Was there some kind of car show going on for all those cars to be driving around? Unfortunately, I don't see moving to "kommie-fornia" as you call it. The state is way to liberal for me.

I agree, but even the gubberment wont keep me from the weather. I know when they filmed in LA thry put an open invitation for any street racer to race. When we go for breakfast though it was just another sunday morning, the get together night is thursday at in-n-out.

Btw thank man ;)
