5-speed Drivers With 3.73's

I shouldn't even be asking this as I've driven a 5spd Mustang for 6 years but...

At what speed do you guys normally use 5th gear? Do you use it around the city?

I have 3.73's and at 45mph I'm around 2200 RPMs in 4th, and 50mph is about 2500 RPMs. Seems a little high.

So I normally shift to 5th but that puts me around 1400-1500 RPMs and I feel it may be putting more stress on the motor. Is this too low of an RPM? Should I stick to using 4th gear only at 50mph and below and burn up that gas?

It's the long ass 5th gear in the 03-04s. It's like they made a 6 speed, but forgot to put in a 5th gear, so they just called it a 5 speed. Lol.

No matter what rear end gears you have, 1:1 is a long way from .62:1.

Thanks for the replies. My car, with the AC on at least, feels very sluggish around those speeds in 5th gear. With the AC off I can usually shift to 5th around 45ish without issue.

I had some bucking issues a while back and someone mentioned I was at too low of an RPM but I had been driving like this for a long time. I was also getting an O2 sensor error around that time, for a rear sensor that's turned off in the tune. Now the bucking seems to have stopped and the code doesn't come back anymore for some reason. However, sometimes in 5th gear with the AC on it feels like it might want to start bogging/bucking at city speeds.

I usually do the same as Apats77 when I know I will be going 40mph for a while. Like when I'm on my way to work, the last leg of the trip is a road thats 35mph so I usually go 40 in 5th gear. Sometimes I just keep it in 4th and its at 3700 rpms when Im going 40mph, exhaust sounds damn good at that rpm lol but not good for gas mileage but fuggit.
