Let me know when this shindig is happening. I can turn you on to some much better BBQ than what you'll find downtown in the tourist trap. Mike is right, it'll be hotter than hell from June 1 thru at least September 20th...this year it was in the 90's til the end of October! And with a splash of 50-70% humidity.

I would also suggest maybe an o-ring for the cup holders. I have an assortment got from the HF that has O-rings from like 1/8th up to at least 2". Stretch one or two over the insert and that should hold it tight when you cram it back in.

Well there we go...Now we got ourselves a native tour guide.... even more reason to make this happen.
I know that some kind of rubber band.o-ring is the solution to the noise,..I just gotta find something that won't end up deteriorating and basically rotting away in a month. I'm thinking that some form of butyl tape is out there that I'll be able to make a pass or two around the top ring and solve my problem. Either that, or I silicone the cupholder down and use some wetsuit material kinda insulator on the cup insert itself (since it's a yeti.....maybe they make it already?)

I'm in. September gives me enough time to grenade a couple more motors before I get it right. I'll have to bring the wife though, but she's a good sport - as long as the A/C works.

Ok,...addressing the occasionally noisy fuel pump.

I put the car back in the air when on Sunday night. I wanted to see if the filter had more junk in it.

It didn't. At least not enough to impede the fuel flow enough to cause the pump to strain. Since I had the car up in the air, and since I had a fix planned to replace the -8 braided hose that I was using that was bent into a 180. (Which I hate)....I pulled the hose off.

Doing that let me see into the shut-off ball valve that I am using so I can service the filter.

Hmmm,....What's this red piece of plastic looking like a piece of red plastic tape hanging out of the valve I wonder?............
I have no freakin' clue what, or how this piece of plastic got there,..but it's jammed by the ball valve itself...it's actually pinching the plastic. I tried to pull it outta there (all done with the ball in the "open" position, while gasoline was pouring out through the now open hole...and the stuff broke off,..leaving an unretrievable remnant still in there.

:dammit:

That means that I gotta remove the ball valve, and that means that the 10+ gallons in the tank (more likely 15+ gallons) will need to be drained. :nonono:

The ball valve is standard Home Depot fare,....Maybe the red vinyl that the ball is pinching was once "covering the ball"?
How stupid would that be? Why would they put a stainless ball in a valve and then cover it w/ plastic? If that's the case,...I can guarantee you that that plastic doesn't like to be submerged in gasoline, and that's why it's hanging out right now.

I'll bet that would've clogged the filter nicely..

** Future headline:

MIke runs the Monster Lean,...Melts 3 pistons,...Details at 10.

I don't wanna drain the tank.....:(........I wanna be able to fix this as is. I'm figuring a way.:nice:

I have previously disconnected the fuel pressure lines then used the pump to transfer the gas into external tanks. A 255 l/hr pump drains the tank quickly.

Build a rotisserie and flip the car upside down...that sounds way easier than draining the gas. :bang:

Seriously, I think that is part of the seal on the ball valve....and I don't think the ones from HomeDepot are rated for gasoline. I think they are for air/water and probably the same ones you can get on Ebay from ElChina at 4 times the price.
