Finally got a video of my 03 engine swapped into my 96 GT. Noise is constant and sounds stronger on front drivers side. I am leaning towards the drivers side tensioner being faulty.

impossible noise to pinpoint. Mine sounded like center engine at the intake. I replaced all lash adjusters and timing tensioners twice. When i took mine apart the heads and valves all looked good. There was some scoring on cylinder 5 and the piston was sloppy in the cylinder. After $1,700 i left the shop with a loud tapping engine. I havent completely disassembled it in case someone wants a rebuilder but may get bored and have it apart soon to see if anything else may be the cause. Have you tried unplugging your injectors and plug wires one by one to narrow it down to a single cylinder? Thats how i finally found where my noise was coming from.

That's what is keeping me from thinking it's the short block. I unplugged each cylinder, one at a time, and there was no difference. The previous owner of my car obviously never did an oil change. There was sludge everywhere and the number 8 plug is frozen in the head still. My next step will probably be to yank the heads. I'd rather not right now though... I do all my own work, so it's really just time.
