So its raining here. I go to start my car and i push the clutch in and my foot slips off and the clutch comes back up really hard and fast. So i push it back down and turn the key. It acts like it does when you try to start it when the clutch isnt in. I tried it both ways. Clutch in and not it. Its like the safety switch got fowled up or something. Is there anyway to disable it so i can see if that is it?

The switch is basically one wire going in (white/pink stripe), hot with key in start pos. (hot w/ 12V+), and the other is only hot when the pedal is depressed and key in start. So jumping the 2 wires would bypass the switch. To test it, see if you have 12v+ on the output wire w/ key in start and clutch depressed.

It looks like it's the White with pink stripe wire, which is 12V+. One of two things. Check for 12V+ at the white/pink wire at the starter relay (last item in the circuit, so if you don't have it with the clutch depressed and key in held start position, then you know it could be the clutch switch.)

If you have it at the starter relay, check for 12V+ at the yellow wire at the starter relay. From there the 12v+ goes on a white/pink wire out of the relay to the starter solenoid, which activates the solenoid and starts the car. If you have 12v+ at the solenoid, check for 12V+ at the big red cable at the starter (hot all the time), and ground at the big black wire (ground all the time).

Remember, yellow is hot at all times when the key is in the ignition. The white/pink is only hot when you have the clutch depressed, key in the start position and factory anti-theft disabled if you have it.

Damn dude do you sit and read the manual lol your post are very detailed lately :nice:

Thanks for the responses guys. I was wrong though. It didnt break from my violent foot action. I decided to try and jump the starter, and found that the black wire with the female connector had come disconnected somehow. I was surprised it was that. It fired right up once i plugged it back in.

Well I finally found This website and it is immensely useful. I am so glad to have it; before, my posts resort to "find a wiring and good frickin luck".

Having a good wiring diagram makes electrical problems very easy to solve. Without them, you are like the blind leading the blind.

We have Tom Moss (diagram author for most of the schematics) and S&2B's (site host) to thank for providing such a wonderful reference. :nice:

Hi, I have been interesting in this set of posts as I have a similar issue. Somethimes I will have the clutch depressed to start and nothing happens. Dash lights come on, sometimes a click, but not start. I may take several times to depress the clutch before the care starts in my 2015 GT. Many other times the car will start first time. I am wondering if it is a failing starter or this switch. Any thoughts? I would have thought that a broken switch or starter would simply work or not work rather than intermittently work. Thanks
