I need a new oil pan for my car it's leaking. Would the 98 oil pan be the same for a 96 I cant find one for a 96 on spectra's website but if I do a 97 or 98 and 99 I get results. I get a part number FP46a for the oil pan just want to make sure it's the same before I order it.

Thanks

According to spectra that pan fits 97 to 04 I suspect it will fit a 96 also, lmr, cj pony parts and moroso all list oil pans the same for 96 thru 04
Call lmr and talk to them, they have a black friday sale going on right now and they are also a vendor for stangnet, check out their thread for the code.

Yea that’s what I thought but didn’t want to jump the gun Incase something was different. I’ll go ahead and do that thanks.

There is a difference between the 1996 oil pan and later model years that I'm aware of. The 1996 has an oil level sensor on the side of the oil pan. This oil level sensor is not on later model years.

So as long as you don't care about having a working oil level sensor in your 1996 then the oil pan from a later model year will indeed fit.

Just wondering. You are aware that the Ford Service manual does say that the K-member needs to be lowered to make enough room to get the oil pan out. It's kind of a large PIA job.

Yea it’s only 8 bolts I was going to just lower it some and use my cherry picker unbolt the engine mounts and lift the motor up some. A real PITA was my 95 7.3 oil pan I had to take the whole front off and pull the engine lol.
