I have NGK iridium plugs in both my Cobra & GT, use STP oil filters & synthetic oil (usually Royal Purple 10w30, else STP full synthetic). No problems with any of the above for 80k miles in the GT, and 25k miles in the Cobra.

That sucks. My guess is that you owe more on it than it's worth, right? Try & get multiple quotes from your mechanic for... A) fix it & make it the way it was B) fix it & make it how you want Also get a good trade in value from a dealer. My guess is that A will be your best bet. Next...

I've had my 4.10s for 3 years now & have had zero issues. Only time they made any noise was when I had a bad seal on the differential & ran low on fluid. I know it's been said before, but I am going to say it again... DON'T FEAR THE GEAR!
