    86 mustang LX 2.3L

Yep, I realized that, but most Ford models of that era were similar in their vacuum routing.

Engine Help! 1980 Ford Mustang won't start, has spark

Align the crank to TDC on the compression stroke, then remove the dist cap to see if the rotor is pointing to number 1 cylinder in the cap. (I'm thinking the dist might have been installed 180* out of phase.)

    1993 Mustang LX 2.3 won't rev past 2k

Do you have a MAF sensor? If so, try unplugging it and spray the plug with WD-40 or an electrical cleaner. I'm thinking corrosion on the pins inside the plug causing intermittent connection issues. Ford had a TSB on these plug-ins years and years ago...

What tire size for ponies on 1993 2.3?

The Ponys should be a little bit lighter than the Ten Holes; that alone will gain some performance... Good choice on the tire size.

    Happy 20th birthday

Happy Birthday! I always liked the teal color on these Mustangs.

how to clean idle air control valve

If cleaning the IAC didn't fix it, try cleaning the throttle body where the throttle plate meets the housing. Don't use a harsh cleaner here, just wipe it down with a shop rag and windex or simple green.

    help car has no power

This is a classic symptom of a clogged catalytic converter. Once you warm it up, see if the cat gets REALLY hot. Sometimes the header pipe will get cherry red, if you run it long enough. You can also check this with a vacuum gauge if you have one; the manifold vacuum will be very low and...

My 2.3t build, could use some help please.

I'm amazed at what you guys do with these 2.3s'.:nice: The only thing I can add is to address the gearing. Many Explorers came with 3.55s' in the 8.8 diff, and if you can find one with a tow package it just might have a 4.10 installed. Late model Rangers w/towing also have the 4.10, but...

    Mileage tips needed

Yep, anything to help the air intake and exhaust. If you don't want to spend a lot of cash, start with a new air filter and sparkplugs/wires. Clean the throttle body. A performance muffler would be the next step......

problems with my tach cel is on

A new ICM will definitely fix it. Be sure and rub some heatsink compound on the back of the ICM before installation. If you're buying a used ICM, autoparts stores sell the heatsink stuff for a couple bucks. If ICM is a new one, then it's included in the box. Do not install without the...

Replacing Camshaft Position Sensor on '95 3.8L V6

Glad you got it fixed, DP.:nice: Apparently there's two types of sensors used in these model years. I had the same problem with my daughter's 95; finally had to bring the old sensor in to match it up with the right one. That's interesting about the Windstar engines being used in Mustangs...

    Fuel Filter

Nice pics, Glowstang. We often overlook those fuel filters since they're out of sight. That Reef Blue really pops. One of the best looking colors Ford has ever used, IMHO.

    SPIT & SPUTTERING?

Ford probably put timing marks on the crank for diagnostic purposes; you can still check the timing even though you can't adjust it. The ECM uses inputs from the CPS, TPS, MAF and MAP to set the best timing for any given engine load. Any luck on the code? I still can't find a definition for a...

    need help

Large amounts of black smoke, heh, the Batmobile could do that...... As a first guess I'd suspect a blown diaphragm in the fuel pressure regulator. Pull the vacuum hose off it and see if there's raw fuel in the line. If it's wet inside, then a new FPR should fix it.....

Replacing Camshaft Position Sensor on '95 3.8L V6

Sounds like a good plan on the flush. Might be a good idea to backflush the heater core too by removing the heater hoses and using a garden hose. Your heating problem might be a combination of low coolant and partially clogged heater core. Changing the thermostat is always a good idea, since...

    SPIT & SPUTTERING?

John, the timing isn't adjustable on the 92. You're right, there isn't a code 90, or at least one that I could find. I'd have another store read it again, to confirm that's really a bad code. Shucks may have had a bad code reader. Since your trouble starts when it goes into closed loop...

    wont rev past 3000rpm?

Well, it might be a bad ECU, but they usually trigger a code or give a no-start situation. What's strange is that you've replaced the MAF, and still get a MAF related code? I'd erase the code, drive it and see if the same code returns. Post the code number and we'll see if we can try to...
