Engine New problem, hesitating on acceleration and hard starting

Did the Plug Wires fix the backfire and hard start issues? Did you do a compression test? Make sure all of the plugs are out when you do. That way if you have a head gasket failure between 2 cylinders it will be easier to detect. Common Things to check... Head Gasket. Fuel Filter Fuel Pump. (...

    Engine 2000 VS 2003 Balance

I replaced the motor from my 2003 3.8 V6 Automatic with a motor from a 2000 3.8 V6 Manual. I removed the pilot bearing and and transferred over the flex plate. The replacement motor (2000) has tons of vibration. I am about to replace the harmonic balancer but have read that they are different...

Just picked up a 2003 V6 with a rod knocking.

Is that part of the radiator? Mine does not have a neck on the radiator. I think it probably had a separate reservoir mounted in the engine compartment but I am only seeing that on the 4.6 cars. Maybe someone put a V8 Radiator in it. Something Like this.

Just picked up a 2003 V6 with a rod knocking.

I picked up a used V6 for it. I am getting ready to pull the motor and could not find the radiator cap. It does not appear to have one. I cannot find a spot where one would have been. What I am missing here. I looked on the internet and most have one on the radiator. This does not and it does...

Just picked up a 2003 V6 with a rod knocking.

I just picked up a 2003 Convertible with a rod knocking. It is the 3.8 V6. I also have a good SBF 5.0 out of a 2000 explorer laying around that I was going to sale. I know the 5.0 will bolt right up to the transmission and will fit. I think I would have to change the exhaust, harness, and...

Upgrades to 69 Engine and transmission.

The Transmission is getting rebuilt with a stage 2 shift kit. If changing the output shaft is needed then it can be easily accomplished during the rebuild. The issue I am having is find consistent information on that changeover process. Some say cut the shaft other say it needs to be changed...

Upgrades to 69 Engine and transmission.

I am looking for caveats, pros, and cons of this swap. I have a 2000 Explorer with the 5.0 GT40P setup and 4R70W Transmission. I pulled the harness also. I also have the engine and transmission out of a 1995 E150 5.8L with the E4OD (Overdrive C6) Transmission. My Plan is to take the 5.8 and...

    Blasting

I would be cautious of the Blast and prime. If I was having some do that I would want to look at it after blasting. To make sure they are not covering up shotty work with primer. The whole intention of blasting the whole car is to get the rust out of the little nooks and crannies. You can...

    Rubberized Undercoating

Well This makes we wonder if I should do it this way. The tentative plan. Prime with epoxy. Seam Seal. Second coat of Primer Undercoat 3 Medium Coats. Paint semigloss black 2 to 3 Coats. I would really like to hear from as many people with experience either way.

    Rubberized Undercoating

I have heard about 50/50 on that. Some say it will some say it wont. I have never seen a car with rust under the undercoating. That does not mean it doesn't happen. There wasn't any rust under the undercoating on my 69. I'm not sure how good of a comparison that is though the car had very little...

    Blasting

I was quoted $700 for blasting here in Idaho. I opted to do it myself because I could do it for $125 including purchasing a decent blaster. Epoxy primer DIY should not run more than $150 for the primer and then however much time it takes you. Epoxy is not imperative. A primer sealer will...

    Built a Rotisserie

I Did some cleaning yesterday and so far it looks like most of the rust is surface rust. I will be sandblasting this weekend. I will post some more pics when I get it done.

    Quick multimeter question

It sounds like you are on the right track. I am curious as to how much current the stereo is drawing. It may be that one of your amps is not shutting off. I have seen that a few times.
