Power steering fluid change, got some questions

Cancel that the whine is back and sounds about the same. Bummer, $15 in fluid down the toilet. What was interesting is while I was pouring the fluid in (after it was drained) the whine was totally gone. I wonder why it came back after a bit.

Power steering fluid change, got some questions

I am in the middle of a power steering fluid change on my 1992 LX 5.0 and I have some questions and concerns. I have the terrible whine and the fluid looks disgusting. Probably it has never been changed in the 118k miles on the car. 1. Check the reservoir and its full. 2. Take the hose...

All radiators from 87-93 are not the same?

My bad assumption was that a 1991 LX 5.0 radiator would be identical to my 1992 LX 5.0 which is leaking. It is mostly the same except there are two extra ports on the 1992, I assume for some kind of transmission lines. I'm not sure exactly how they work since they are are not plugged up...

What insurance for stated value on a 1992?

Thanks I'm checking it out now. Another good coverage feature to have would be guaranteed paint matching. I had a pristine low mileage Honda Del Sol that someone smashed with it in a parking spot. Their insurance (also Statefarm) would not paint it to match so my choices were pay the...

What insurance for stated value on a 1992?

I have used Statefarm for over 15 years and they have always been amazing except for when it comes to valuable older cars that arent antiques. I had a 1993 Mustang that I valued around $10k and when some old lady crushed the fire out of it I got screwed big time. My 1969 Chevelle has a antique...

Rotor changing, I guess I have botched it big time!

I figured it out. I had to pop out the piece that holds the rear bearing in. From there everything worked perfectly.

Rotor changing, I guess I have botched it big time!

This is my first try without a friends help at changing rotors. On my 1992 LX I have taken the caliper off and beat the fire out of the rotor but it would not budge. Next I took the wheel bearing (probably wrong term) cap off, took the pin out, unscrewed the nut and then the rotor slid right...

Yikes! Spray paint and side mirrors?

The flat definitely looks better. Luckily, Autozone's idea of glossy spray paint isn't really that glossy.

Yikes! Spray paint and side mirrors?

Wow, yours makes it look like a 2 year old did mine!

Yikes! Spray paint and side mirrors?

I used the googone (lol) to clean the paint up till it was mostly smooth. Then I gave it 4 coats of some gloss spray paint from autozone. Attached is the outcome. That is water on there and not giant drops of paint :-)

Oxidation on both metal panels above the headlights?

About 12 treatments with the turtle polish and one side is 95% restored and the other side is 80%. I can live with that :-) I'll get pics of the whole car up shortly.

Yikes! Spray paint and side mirrors?

My side mirrors on my 1992 are crotchety looking at best. I pulled them off today, taped them up and spray painted them with some flat black color. One of them I accidentally touched and it left a big fingerprint. To fix that I tried to wipe it with a paper towel and oh no is all I can say...

Oxidation on both metal panels above the headlights?

If I can't get the paint to match pretty close I'll probably take it down to Maaco (yikes!) and get a fresh slap of cheap paint on it. I'll stop by the auto store today and see if they have anything better than this turtle wax polish I have. How many times can you apply the polish before there...

Oxidation on both metal panels above the headlights?

I just got a sweet 1992 lx 5.0 today and it is in the most amazing shape. The only problem is these two panels, drivers and passenger side (quarerpanels?) seem to be heavily oxidized. The first thing I did was to take some turtle was polishing compound to them. It says it is for small/medium...
