    Protecting your cement

Plastic sheating works well, What i did was roll the edgesthat were on the concrete and then put sand on the edges off the concrete, this allowed the oil to drain off to the side into the sand. Also you can drive over this, it will never drain through to the bottom, and it is easily moved for...

    NEED HELP BOLTING PROJECT UP!!

As stated before there are far too many bolts to list off memory, but 99% of them are the same thread and size. My suggestiong is to go down to the hard ware store and get bolts about 3-4 inches long, fully threaded. Then go through all the holes and list the length and quality you need. Another...

    Fitting shock towers

It is all in the prep work. Are you just replacing the towers or the aprons too? Why are you replacing them? If your just replacing the towers they will line up with the old marks and the holes in the aprons and frame rails. If your replacing it because it won't drive straight because of an...

Stock vs. Aftermarket Tilt Steering Column

I'd be wary of the randal's set up. After market columns have the center shaft built in, with runners on the top and bottom, which eliminates any in and out movement on the steering wheels, plus the tilt feature is nice. On our original 64-66 set ups the shaft goes all the way from the gear box...

    welder

The stich welder is just a fancy arc welder, still just as easy to burn holes AND you have to chip off the flux after welding. If you leave it and just paint over it, it will chip off a month down the road and start to rust. Arc welders are also harder to control because as you weld the stick...

    Fabbing subframe connectors

It is all in what you expect. The cheaper subframe connectors that just weld to the end of the front and rear subframes are the cheapest, but give you the least performance gain. The 4 points give you MUCH better performance gain. but usually you lose a little bit of ground clearance and they...

anyone ever tried this? drilling drums?

There are a few things to look at when doing this. 1. Balance, your removing material which can affect the balance. You can't just get a drill bit and go to it, you have to properly map it out. If you do and you still have balance issues you can remove some material off the fins to balance it...

    My 1970 Mustang project - Frame/Floorpan/Subframes.

How do you plan on connecting your sfc's to your set up? are you just going to but it against you cross-member or are you going to run them along your framerails? What do you plan on making them with? Also what are you planning on doing for your floorboards? completly custom or original looking...

289 smoke in valve covers not out of tailpipe what to do?

Your top compression rings are blown, the oil rings are keeping the oil from burning too much, but exhaust is coming out the other way through the crank case.

Kill switch in the cigarette lighter... how?

I am doing something slightly similiar. Since I'm doing my entire wiring custom I plan on running the hot wire for the started through a relay. Then I am getting a Timed dome light for when the door opens. When the light is on it will allow the car to be started, which is about a 30 second...

    How to strip it

DA's will take a VERY long time. took me 4 hours to do a hood, and that was just the top side. Grinding disks will remove paint rust etc fast BUT remove ALOT of metal as well. It is also hard to get into corners. The razorblade technique will remove paint fast, but not bondo and rust. They sell...

what well known muffler shop did this...?

I wouldnt take it back to them to fix it after seeing what they did the first time. I would how ever get my money back, you could even take them to court to pay for another shop to fix ther mistakes if you really wanted to. As for the reverse turbo super exhaust, I doubt a big franchise shop...

    Battery Question

Optimas are great batteries. They put out good power, and are great in accidents as they are perma-sealed. Also they can be mounted in ANY position, not that you ever would but you could. As for the car, do you frequently leave it sitting? The low but consistent draw from alarms and radio clocks...

O/T, but I figured this would be seen here more than Talk, it's for your safety....

This is like many cars that have come to me. A lot of people do things just to make it look legal. So they install their seats and belts with lag screws, or slightly better bolts and nuts without washers straith throught the floorpan. ALWAYS mounts these to a SOLID piece of the frame and ALWAYS...

    welding guru's come on in.

Flap discs are my personal favorite to clean up welds. They are 4 inches wide like most discs and on the under side they have about 100 flaps of sand paper. These are soft and long lasting. there are 2 types, ones with plastic backs and ones with a grinder like back. I prefer the plastic back...

    learning to weld

You should NEVER try to weld a seam on a body panel. Even 1/8 of an inch can be the one to ruin the body job. I use to think it wouldn't be a big deal til my auto shop teacher back in high school told us to take 2 flat sheets of steel, lay them flat and then weld 1/8 of an inch to get them...

    UCA mounting bar troubles

Those are crimp nuts on the ends. Make sure they go on smoothly for the first 2-3 turns and then tighten them to the torque specs. They are basically just a fansy lock nut. After being forged they have spots on 2-3 sides punched in very slightly making the inside diameter smaller. This makes it...

    Questions about Seats

becareful with this. Cheaper dYes will rub off with heat. My friend did his seats black and he ruined a nice suit on a summer day. Also sweat affects alot of dyes as well. Try to find some with good reviews.

Couple of questions about MAKING a supercharger kit

I've done 2 junkyard S/C kits using V-belts. Both times you would burn the belt over 3000 rpm and snap it if you put the pedal more then half way down. To me this defeats the purpose if you can't use the power it wants to give you. Unfortunatley i can't tell you what their solutions for this...

What Happened With the R+P Kits?

Power steering gear boxes are geared higher, since they use engine power to help them turn they don't need the lower gearing. If your not going to use your PS system just order a manual rack and pinion and the effort wont be too much.
