It was me that had the other fire car, but it didn't start anywhere near the dash. It started on the driver's side under the hood by the cylinoid. AT THE BATTERY, since it was a battery fire. I have no clue what could have started your car on fire, but there is a video on YouTube with another...

Mine did that at first. It was the gasket on the neck of the gas tank. I don't know if it is the same thing, but just a suggestion. But, mine would also leak if I filled it above 3/4 of a tank.

DO NOT CUT HOLES IN YOUR MUFFLERS. I had another 88' a couple of years ago, and they guy before me cut holes in the mufflers and welded around them to try and prevent rust. It sounded just like I had holes in my mufflers. In other words, it sounded like ass!! :nonono:

That would be me that had the faulty red top. I did have a cell totally melt out of the battery. Here is a pic of it. I was also told by several shops some other stories of their batteries being faulty. But, I think it was a batch of them and it is true that it is VERY uncommon...
