I personally would pull the ECU out and take the cover off if it and look at the capacitors. They have also caused problems with the function of the fuel pump. I mean that ECU if original isn't far from 40 years old! If you want it checked out and fixed it needed contact ECU Exchange.

Thanks for this. Excuse my noob questions, but do I just squeeze some inside the cable casing? I assume it's hard to get the whole inside of the cable lubricated?

That's the route I'm going to install and adjust the cable. That's basically exactly one of the methods in the Ford shop manual.

No I haven't tried that yet. I think it's definitely worth a try. I also purchased another stock OEM cable. What is this graphite lubricant you speak of?

Update: I just completed doing it over today. The EGR spacer definitely has a fair amount of pitting on the TB side. So I used permatex thermostat housing rtv on both gaskets that mate to the EGR sides. It's colder here right now, so I'm going to wait a few days before I start it up.

So to clarify, you also use it on the EGR to plenum gasket, but only on the EGR side? Basically, can I just put some on the mating surface on both sides of the EGR spacer, then put on gaskets? I have some blue permatex thermostat housing rtv but I've never used it before.

I like the kit, seems to work well. The radiator hoses were installed by the previous owner. They work well, but I do prefer the stock looking ones.
