88 5.0 Ho Convertible Rough Idle Stall Backfire Issue

I had a '89 T-bird that was doing random bad things, poor idle, erratic running , stalling, etc.--everyone said the ECM rarely fails, but no one could figure out what the problem really was. I spent $600 with "experts" who all failed to correct the problem but charged me lots of cash for their...

    Rear Seat Removal

I got my rear seat out by accident--I was following the above suggestions and luckily got it loose. It turns out my seat comes out fairly easily, I was being too gentle. I made a nice wedge out of a piece of junk 2x4 and used it to raise the seat cushion by driving it between the floor and...

    Rear Seat Removal

I just bought a 1991 5.0 LX ragtop--the top goes up and down fine, but the right rear window won't move. The motor spins but the window won't budge--I presume it has plastic parts in the regulator that need to be replaced. I'm familiar with this from other failed regulators in other Fords. My...

Noob Buys '91 5.0 Ragtop, Has Puzzles

I need the sensor and also the piece it attatches to--on my car I have a piece of aluminum irrigtion pipe in place of the correct parts. The plug is sitting there, but the right parts are missing. I have a photo of it but can't figure out how to post it--I have posted pics before--why can't I...

Noob Buys '91 5.0 Ragtop, Has Puzzles

I bought a troubled '91 ragtop that had been "modified" by a young kid and his friends. They were hip-hop types who wanted to do donuts at the local schoolyard. I bought it for a decent price, it ran pretty good but had many problems. I drove it home and began fixing them one by one and the car...

Buying New Tires In A Non-stock Size

I have a near bone-stock Mustang 5.0 LX ragtop and it has worn out tires on it. I am wanting to have a car that looks stock to the casual observer but I want it to have a nice hunkered down look so that someone might say "that thing looks stock, but I don't remember em looking quite that good"...

A Smart Guy Would Know The Answer To This:

Here's a follow-up on my problems, the ign switch and the clutch cable. I went with new parts, both from ebay which were considerably lower priced than anything I could get locally, the only downside was waiting for the parts to get here. In both cases I spent the time detailing parts and making...

    Neg. Cable Route With 5.0

Thanks for the responses, I finally used a slightly shorter main cable that I got from NAPA--the pigtail to the fender was lengthened, and now it fits and looks like a factory part--they car is acting perfectly. Thanks for the help--I am kinda knowlegable but it helps to get your input.

    Neg. Cable Route With 5.0

I just threw away a home-brewed cable that had failed--it was about 42" long and went more or less straight to the block, with a secondary neg. cable going to a ground next to the batt. on the fender. This was amateur-ish, so I tossed it, and bought a cable from NAPA, but it is 60" long and will...

A Smart Guy Would Know The Answer To This:

Your link was to the Mustang Monthly article? I should have specified what the trouble is. MM showed a 87 Saleen with a simpler dash panel apparently, theirs was much smaller, secured by two screws, and it stated once the panel screws are removed just remove the panel. My '91 LX has a much...

A Smart Guy Would Know The Answer To This:

I have the proper bits, no problem--the old switch is out, the new one is on it's way, so this morning I busied myself with removing the old clutch cable. It was looking not too bad but was adjustable at the fork so removing it was extra difficult, the adjusters were double-nutted and very...

A Smart Guy Would Know The Answer To This:

NOW we're getting somewhere! This thing has come apart totally and the insides have fallen out. I obviously need a new one. I was calling the device you stick they key into the ignition switch! We learn as we go. Now, how does the lower dash panel come off? I want to access the wires better. All...

A Smart Guy Would Know The Answer To This:

I am a self-taught mechanic with a good selection of tools and little serious knowlege. I know some things well, but am ignorant of others. I just bought a '91 LX convert with 5.0 and 5-spd manual--kinda neat car with original paint, original (shabby) interior, healthy sounding motor, good...

    Does anyone recognize this item?

It's a metal console with thee main pieces, they have what appear to have Ford part numbers (C5OB, 1965?)--they were mounted on a plastic shifter console, the only remaining piece is the black thing on the far right end. The metal is in new condition. It looks like an automatic shifter went in...
