    Suspension You Won't Believe This.....

So: my passenger side ball joint needs to be replaced, after all I do have over 325,000 miles on the bluestang hehe. So I pull it in the garage and proceed to disassemble to front end. With new ball joint in hand I slipped it into place and..... Wait... What did he say? SLIPPED it into place...

    Transmission Help Please

Kind of hard to but a wire mesh over the filter intake since I have a CAI system. The little bugger chewed right through the wire mesh on the filter itself, but TY for the suggestion :)

    Transmission Help Please

So, I had a few days off work and decided to do some more troubleshooting since I was convinced that this was not actually a mechanical problem, but an electronic problem since the OD is electronically controlled. After the flush and filter change, the same problem still was present and again...

    Transmission Help Please

You're right it isn't actually a "gear" per se and is a final lockup, I just referred to them as "gears". I am An ASE Mechanic, but don't know much about auto transmissions. I've had this car since 1991 and have religiously changed the fluids in it. It is due for a flush/filter and the fluid is...

    Transmission Help Please

It has 3 regular "gears," a 4th that engages at about 35 MPH and finally 5th at 40-45 MPH. The difference between 4th and 5th is only a few hundred RPM'S and nothing major. Oh and to add something else; on cold start up and until it warms up to operating temp everything is normal. Only when...

    Transmission Help Please

Pretty sure I'm answering my own question, but figured I'd give it a shot anyway. I have a 91 2.3 with the a4ld tranny. The Truckstang is closing in on 320K miles with no rebuild on the motor or the trans. I keep the fluids clean and maintain all regularly. We do tow a boat, a small pop up...

Good news for pre 96 cars in Illinois

Well they finally did it. After numerous lawsuits, accidents and damaged vehicles, The State of Illinois no longer requires vehicles that aren't OBD II equipped to be dyno tested. In fact, any 95 or earlier doesn't have to be tested at all. I'm not sure how many in Illinois are reading this, but...

wats up with my e brake?

Honestly I can't explain it since I've never taken my lever apart. You have me curious now so I'm going to examine mine. My first guess would be the spring isn't a tensioner, but a holding spring for when you hit the release button and manually release the tension. Was the spring broken...

wats up with my e brake?

Unless you use your e-brake regularly, two things could happen when you use it. 1) it won't work, 2) it jams and won't release. I have used mine regularly for well over 15 years. My car has 287K on it and it will allow me to do the ole "hillbilly u-turn." It will also lock up the rear tires if...

Maybe this'll help ya My lenses were so yellowed and fogged I drove around with my brights on and still couldn't see. I bought a new set of altezza-euro style tail lights and a set of headlights/turn/corner with opti-blue hi intensity bulbs to match. So that's what the road looks like:D...

    Reliability

Well, my 91 hatchack has just over 287K on the original trans and engine and I tow a boat with it too. I've replaced just about every single chassis part on it and a good portion of the engine's electronics but have had no major mechanical problems with the engine or tranny. I get good mileage...

40.00 CAI problem??? too much air? not enough fuel??

HORRAY!!!! I FOUND IT!!!!! It was the MAF all along. Why it still works perfectly with the old CAI and/or the old OEM intake is well beyond my understanding but for some reason with this new CAI, it wouldn't work. I put a new MAF on it and everything is fine:) I do thank you for all the tips...

    Removing airbag/steering wheel

BE CAREFUL!!!!!!! Mustangs have a battery backup under the glove department for the airbag that can last up to ½ an hour after the battery is disconnected. You can get what is called a turbo socket at autozone that will help you get the bolt out. SERIOUSLY wait a ½ an hour AFTER the battery is...

40.00 CAI problem??? too much air? not enough fuel??

I know the EEC-IV is quite simple and forgiving with it's operation. I've taken the intake tube off and looked over it with a fine tooth comb and don't see any leaks. I also used a sensor safe sealer just to make sure all connections are tight and sealed. I just don't understand why duct taping...

40.00 CAI problem??? too much air? not enough fuel??

some testing results, still problematic Well, over the weekend I did several experiments with the new CAI. Trying to figure out what the heck is going on. The MAF is clean with no clogging on the resistor/sensors. The ACT (Air Charge Temperature sensor???) I don’t believe I have one do I?? The...

no kickdown in my new 88 2.3 coupe

If it's fuel injected, you'll see three cables on the throttle body. The top two are accelerator and cruise. The bottom one is the kickdown. I'm not sure where it is on a carb model, but almost always on the throttle linkage/ butterfly assembly. Hope this helps-Jeff 287K and rising

40.00 CAI problem??? too much air? not enough fuel??

An interesting development has occured with the new CAI I installed. I was on the highway and noticed the tranny wasn't going into it's final OD gear (lockup) Since I have 287k on the original engine/trans, I thought, "Well, it's finally going out on me." Wrong. I pulled of to the side to check...

NEW $40.00 CAI for a 2.3 EEC IV

Hello all fellow 2.3 lovers. I just recently saw this ad in Advance Auto Parts (PDQ) for a universal Cold Air Intake. I just replaced my home built CAI with this one a few days ago and it works great!!! It's quite simple to install and looks and sounds better than the PVC one I made...

    Aggrivating ignition problem Please help

Well, I totally rewired from the ICM to the coils and so far so good. It did hiccup on me once for about 5 seconds but hasn't done it since. (650 miles later) I didn't find any breaks in the old wires and I always use di-electric grease on all connections. I sure hope this solves it and once...
