    Drivetrain Transmission Not Engaging

I had my mustang out a few times this year with no issues until now. I took it out of the gargae and parked it in the driveway for a few hours, no issues when i did this. A few hours later I went out to move it back into the garage (car was parked on a slight incline), the transmission lever...

    Aftermarket Temperature Guage

Hi, I am looking to install an aftermarket electrical temperature guage in addition to the factory guage. I am looking for some step by step instructions on how to do this (what wire to tap into for power, where the sending unit goes etc.). I have found alot of posts on this but no real step by...

How to check throttle linkage is adjusted correctly?

I had a chance to follow your advice. I assume the throttle blades are suppose to open up almost perpendicular to the carb throttle body when they are wide open? Right now they barely open up at all, about 20% if I had to guess. I adjusted the rod as far as I could but ran out of thread on the...

How to check throttle linkage is adjusted correctly?

Thanks for the reply. What about the choke? I assume I have to get the car up to operating temperatur first so the choke will open completly, or can you just push open the choke?

How to check throttle linkage is adjusted correctly?

Hi, I just purchased a 67 Coupe with a 289, automatic. I have always had fuel injected cars and just sold my 87 fox body Mustang so carburetors are completly new to me, trying to stumble my way through it. The car runs great, but seems to lack alot of power. At wide open throttle the car seems...

    Oil in Intake

It is common for some oil to be sucked from the PCV valve into the intake, there would be a light coating in the upper intake as well. Some things may make it worse such as no PCV valve screen, no baffle on the lower intake, but if it is only a very light coating of oil, nothing to worry about.

    Best 65-66 mustang repair/upgrade book ?

Take a look on Ebay, I was looking for the same as you but settled on a factory service manual. They are cheap on ebay and you can purchase a CD instead of a printed copy. Probably more technical detail than I want but lots of good reference material for the price.

    High Idle

No instructions came with the IAC

    High Idle

I checked through the idle serge check list and still can't figure this out. I went through the steps to reset the idle. When I do set the idle with the IAC disconnected it idles fine and smooth but I had to set it at 850-900rpm or it would stall. When I hook up the IAC again it idles even...

    Hissing sound around the intake?

Spray some directly around each injector if you are having trouble tracking it down. This will rule out the seals on the injectors. This was the last place I had thought to check to track down a hissing noise as well. The rubber seals around the injectors were old an hard. Sprayed some throttle...

88 5.0 sat for over a year wont start

Same here. However if it has sat for over a year and no fuel stabalizer was used I would suspect bad gas as well.

    Lower Head bolts

Wow, easy on the replies. This forum is for people to find out how to do things correctly, not to be judged on what they have done. Yes the lower head botls should be sealed or an internal coolant leak can result. Teflon tape is not a rcommended sealant. ARP thread sealant is recommended or...

    RPMs will not drop

Ya, a vacuum leak was my first thoght as well. Nothing that I can see so far though. Yes I did reset the computer. The car seems to run much better when I disconnect the IAC while doing the idle reset steps so I am now leaning towards a bad IAC if I can't locate a vacuum leak. I also pulled the...

    Coolant Leak

I would second the advice from BMO37. I have seen a few posts with cracked overflow tanks but few and far between. If you have that much of a puddle every day there should be enough of a trail to track it down. I discovered my coolant leak by following up from the puddle on my garage floor. It...

    RPMs will not drop

I just finished replacing my intake gaskets along with installing new headers. At the same time I cleaned my MAF sensor which was full of gunk. I start it up and have some idle issues with the rpms surging up and down. So I fixed that by following the idle reset procedure. I still have a high...

Help Identifying Threaded Insert in Block

Makes sense. I did ceck it out and it does bottom out and goes nowhere. It would need to be a substantial bolt to thread all the way down so makes sense to what you had described.
