Five days of pounding Cobrask8 at two racetracks

Sorry to hear about your accident. I'd have to say the blame lies equally between Dan's hat and and her glasses. With her impaired vision,... she thought he was Jack Roush.

That would be the famous race car driver's infamous wife that caught you in all your glory. :D

Five days of pounding Cobrask8 at two racetracks

Got a few pics of your car before the bridge at Millville and maybe some video. It looked and sounded good at T-bolt. Did you happen to see the youtube video, "SAAC-33 THUNDERBOLT SPEEDWAY"? Some of the action on pre-grid could be considered.......uh, well,....entertaining? BTW, I have nothing...

Advice: getting ready to start up the 5.0 swap

It might seem unnecessary or a waste, but I would drain the oil (NOT the Mobil 1!)and change the filter after the initial break in. I would do this with every engine I rebuilt to make sure any fine contaminants were drained out or trapped in the filter. I realize you only did the cam and heads...

    Why did they include...?

Mr. G. # is 2060. Mr. Gasket 2060 - Mr. Gasket Chrome Valve Cover Breathers Details This custom, chrome-plated breather/oil filler cap fits over the stock engine oil filler tube Tried to copy pics from Jegs site, but only the info type copied. Sorry. Or it could be I'm...

    Why did they include...?

That's right. Push-in for grommets, push-on for tubes. Aftermarket companies such as Moroso, Mr. Gasket, and Trans-Dapt should sell a push-ON style or even a K&N clamp on style should work. Maybe it's me, but that tube looks too long.

    351C Dyno Numbers

My brother had a 67 Cougar XR7 w/ a 351c-4v, auto(c6?), and rear out of a 70 Mach 1. No dyno #'s as this was in the early/mid 70's. That combo stock, w/ I think 3.00 gears ran mid 14's. After bolt-ons, Hooker super comps(1 7/8" or 2"?) comp cams stage II, edelbrock intake(I believe single...

How to modify for Road Racing

    First E.T.'s with new 347

I hate:rolleyes: (read jealous) you guys w/your 347's. Nice freakin MPH! Should go a bit higher w/more traction. Definitely a SOLID 12 sec ride!:nice:

    Wheel Hop..grr.

Had Lakewood slapper style bars on a 66FB KGT which controlled the wheel hop for the drag racing period. Got into Autox'ing and started to experience hop under braking. I ditched the bars in favor of less unsprung weight and tried to control the hop using spring clamps with moderate success. I...

Raced a Mach in the Cobra

Yeah, thought I read the diffs were the navi cams w/ an iron block? 1/4 times ranged from mid to low 13's @ 101-103mph!

    Too Much Carb???????

The only thing I would question is the auto w/3.55's. Normally you would want a vac sec carb or steeper gears. But I wouldn't change it, even if it did bog. You can tune these carbs like crazy. Take a plug reading after normal driving(easy) and after a WOT run(not so easy). And how does your...

Issues with MSD box and timing light

Had a MSD 6A on a stock hi-po dual point. Did not need a different timing light. Don't remember, but I may have been "jumping out" the MSD to set the timing. This was easy with 2 short jumper leads provided w/ the 6A. Not familiar w/ the dura-spark setup so I'm not sure if this is an option. I...

    Front and Rear Window Installation

Don't pay someone that kind of money. I did my 66 2+2 over 20 years ago with help from a friend. Geostang351 is right on w/directions, key tips are; liberal amounts of sealant, a second person, messy, and molding clips on first. Only thing that may make things easier would be suction...

    Autox a 65-66 in ESP?

Tim/Jimmys66; Guys, thanx for the input and information. I was expecting replys like, "Have never seen or heard of this for a Mustang!" Don't know how you guys pull this stuff out of your hat but, that is what makes this site rok. I'll look into that wheel hop issue further. :hail2: Rob...

    Autox a 65-66 in ESP?

I know there was a similar thread about 8 months ago, but it dealt mainly w/SM mods. I had a 66 KGT FB that I ran in ESP for 10 years. Sold it about 7 years ago, after owning it for almost 30. Yeah, I know, I'm really dating myself now. Now I'm trying to repurchase it to autox again. Has anyone...

Recommended tire air pressure for 275/40/17's & 315/35/17's?

Duh. Next time I'll read everything before I ask the obvious. Disturbed One is pretty much right on. Run the same psi front to rear or more in the front to reduce your understeer. If you now have more understeer than with the 245's and this was the only change to the car, then the 315's are...

Recommended tire air pressure for 275/40/17's & 315/35/17's?

StangIt#1 Is this set up on a S197? And what are the factory specs? IMO, 40 seems way too high for the street and may lead to premature center wear due to overinflation. I would suggest to use the stock Ford specs and maybe add a couple of pounds. This may take away some of your "stick" or...
