    Shifting Issue

Thanks to everyone and yes it does have the stock cable and quadrant in it. Just drove it for a half hour and it worked fine but the issue I described happen twice while driving it last weekend. I have tried the foot under the pedal adjustment before but have never heard a click of any kind...

    Shifting Issue

I have an 87 LX 5 speed notch that I have had since new. It has 54K original miles, and still has the original clutch, quadrant and T5 with the only change being a Hurst shifter that was added may years ago and I am trying to figure out this issue. It will shift great , no noises etc then...

    65 Clutch Pedal Question

Thanks for that! Does the pedal assembly need to be removed from the car or can the repair be done with the clutfch pedal in place? Looks like removing the drivers seat will be a big help in getting to this srea. I did see rebuild kits online for $50 to do this.

    65 Clutch Pedal Question

I am a long time member who due to lifes changes has not been on this site in a few years. I have a 65 K Code which I have owned for 16 years. While driving it yesterday I heard a "pop" sound (which I also felt) when depressing the clutch pedal to make a shift. There is now no real resistance...

    Muffler only question

No problem. Keeping the cats will definitley keep the sound level down significantly especially if you are still using the stock 4 cat pipe. Jack

    Muffler only question

Did the exact thing many years ago with my 87 LX, added 40 series Flows to an otherwise stock system. Was throaty but not loud. Since then I added shorty headers, 2 1/2" Mac catted H pipe and 2 1/2" cat back with Flow 40's and is probably slightly louder than previously but IMO not what I would...

My notch has 52k on her. Bought it new in March of 1987

    Mufflers

I also have super 40's on my 65 K code and also love the overall sound. If your cruising rpm's are high enough (my car cruises around 2,800 to 3,000 rpm) there is no drone. I also have had them on my 5.0 for years which does have some cruising drone but for some reason I actually kind of like it!

    New to me 1970 convertible.

"Im sure it would be well worth the upgrade, but I hate to modify a completely factory unpolluted gem". The only visible thing you will see is one extra wire coming out of the distributor. I put a Pertronix in my otherwise stock 65 K coupe years ago in place of the factory dual points and it...

    1966 Styled Steel Wheel Help

Original SS wheels in good shape are worth a lot to restorers looking for original wheels. Selling them should not be a problem. I would think a 15x6 or 15x7 SS repro wheel would work well on your car. I have had two sets of Scott Drake SS wheels nad would recommend them based on my experience...

1966 Coupe - Looking for Radio Advice

I have had the USA-66 in my 65 for over three years now. I have one dual cone dash speaker and two 6x9's in the rear deck. Far from earthshaking but it sounds decent and no issues at all with the radio so far.

Buy or Build? Which is wiser?

I have done one full restoration on a 66 Mustang years ago and will never do another. Everything ever said about it taking 3 times as long and costing at least twice as much as you think it will is absolutley true. I spent 3 years looking for my 65 K code coupe and cannot remember how many cars...

    Intermittent Shifting Issue

Just a quick question. My 87 5.0 notch (original owner,53k miles and has lead a very easy life) every once in a while hangs up in neutral and is hard to put into any gear. It will then go back to 100% normal shifting in the blink of an eye and shift normally for an extended period of time...

    65 Mustang!

December 64 is a pretty good guess as to when the 64 1/2 style parts were pretty much depleated. My November 64 built coupe has a smattering of 64 1/2 parts on it (center off position 2 speed heater blower, spring clips on door and window handles, early style phillips head hood bumpers etc)

    magazines?

Ditto on Hemmings Muscle Machines. I subscribe to several magazines and a few weeklys and HMM is the one I look forward to reading the most every month. Everything in it is well written, good photography and it has an upper class look and feel to it.

    3.73 Gears. Too much?

I went from the factory 2.73's to 3.55's 15 years ago on my 87 notch and am 100% as happy today with the 3.55's as i was back then. In normal street driving with my 3.35 first geared T5, I have never felt the need for more rear gear than than what is now there.

What sort of parts do you guys have squirreled away that could be $$ down the road.

Stock items: hood, shifter and knob, throttle body, valve covers, low mileage catted H-Pipe, air silencer, 10 holes and headers. Also have a nice set of original 87 Saleen mesh style wheels

    Hideous

The 67 K code (or what's left of it) has been for sale for a log, long time. Can't imagine why.

Do you drive your classic in the winter?

Not so much the cold, it's the sand, salt and snow around here that keeps the Mustangs parked and covered from Thanksgiving till April

Guys that run 15"-16" wheels what tires?

I have 215-65-15 radial T/A's on 15x7 Torque Thrust D's on my 65 K coupe with the HCC-AX steering box and have no real issues while either driving or parking. Definitley requires a little more effort than when I had the 195-75-14 redlines on styled steel wheels on it but it is still pretty easy...
