Help! What to do about rear end?????

Hi Guys: Please tell me what you would do in the following situation: I can get a brand new Ford motorsport 8.8" rear end for $400 locally it has NO axles or brakes and is 28 spline with 3.55 posi. OR I can get an explorer (94) rear end with 3.73 gears and 31 slpines with...

    Quick question about dist. gear.

Comp makes a polymer gear that works with all cams. I have no experience with it. The Crane Digital Billet Distributor comes with a gear that according to Crane...works with ALL gears.....Hope they are correct as it is in with my billet roller cam.

    351w into 65 coupe

Like I say......Buy a NASCAR style Griffin Aluminum rad.....many vendors in the stock car racing mags sell them.....summit will price match too. These are AWESOME, my 393w stays at 180 PERIOD. I got mine for $197.00 Fabbed some mounts...added a fan shroud off a aerostar van (cut it down...

Distributors - I'm kind of stumped

Depending on your cash flow: I highly recommend the Crane digital billet distributor and their Hi-6 ignition box and coil. The distributor belongs in a museum. I slept with mine for a week before installing it......drop dead gorgeous!!!!:nice::hail2: The beauty of the distributor aside...

    351w into 65 coupe

I would suggest a Griffin NASCAR radiator. Go buy a stock car racing magazine and you can order it from some vendors there or get summit/jegs to price match. These are VERY tough and cool with ease. They have 2 rows of 1" alum tubing. They are AFFORDABLE, unlike the custom fit ones. YOu can...

    Looking for 400hp from 351w

I agree 400 hp is achievable with a 351w easily. BUT, I disagree with the stock or stock style rods........You need to put ARP bolts into stock rods to get reliable PERFORMANCE usage....that alone is near the cost of H beam or Pro I beam rods from a good vendor. Also, the big end of the...

    Looking for 400hp from 351w

That isn't a bad kit...I am not crazy about the cheap I beam rods.....I would ask them if they could upgrade the rods to Pro I beam rods (? cost?). I would call these guys...good prices: Small Block Ford Stroker Kits : AD Performance, Your Source for Longblock Performance Parts...

    Looking for 400hp from 351w

I have a toploader and 393w in a 67....BLAST TO DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:nice: If you have the cash to put in the overdrive....AWESOME!!!! Thant will get you waaaay better milage...and the 393 has more than enough torque to move your ass out at any rpm!:hail2:

    Looking for 400hp from 351w

What I would encourage is a stroker. Since you have 302 pistons in hand...... bore the 351 block to 0.030" over use those pistons (I assume they are forged...if not...sell them and get a complete 408w kit)...if they are forged.....buy a 393 nodular iron crank from CHP or Speed-O-Motive for...

    Looking for 400hp from 351w

Certainly worth a look.....depending on the chamber size of his AFR's. Custom can guy can bleed off excessive compression as well.

    Looking for 400hp from 351w

Or buy a 393 crank (3.85" stroke) and use the stock 5.95" 351w rods with those 302 pistons....JUST watch out the CR gets high quickly with flattops. The noduar iron 3.85" crank is under $300 and will do up to 750hp.....This is probably the cheapest way to get a great engine. Speed-O-Motive and...

    Looking for 400hp from 351w

Here are the facts as I know them: 1) Hp=gas, so more HP requires more gas. 2) 351w are notorious for poor gas milage. 3) IF you are really concerned about milage and gas usage....302 based motor would be the way to go....you can get 400 hp out of a 306 no problem...and it will get...

    Looking for 400hp from 351w

If you are going to buy new pistons...which, would be a good idea....GET FORGED, don NOT even consider hyperucraptic....for the extra $100...forged are well worth it. One thought...you can buy a stroker kit from places like CHP or Propower or Keith Craft for under $1000 and that gets you over...

    Looking for 400hp from 351w

Getting 400hp out of a 351w is as easy as falling outta bed! Edelbrock makes a cam for their intake and it made 410hp in a 351w. Cheap and easy.

Anybody running a 8.8" rear out of an explorer in their 67-70 stang? Just wondering if the offset pinion causes issues with driveshaft/tunnel? My 8 inch is ready to go behind the 393w..... Winter project is new rear end....I can get a 8.8 with disks from an explorer....what is the...
