Steering box options for spear-o-matic removal

I'm swapping out the long shaft, manual, quick ratio smb-b steering box in my early 67 stang for a short shaft compatible with the 68 collapsible column. Problem is I haven't been able to find the smb-c box that has a short shaft, 1" sector, and 16:1 ratio. My options are to get an smb-k...

Forged pistons in '93 TRUCK motor

Hey all, From my research I'm 99.9% sure but just wanted to get confirmation from some knowledgeable peeps. A '93 5.0 pulled from an F250 would not have had forged pistons correct? Thanks

    Hideous

Wow is right. The first one with the ridiculous fender mods looks even more retarded than it should because they didn't widen the stance to keep the wheels flush.

    67 Wheel Stud Knurl

The shoulder on drum brake studs won't allow the discs to sit tightly against the hub assembly. Besides I'd rather not trust press on studs to seat tightly after being pressed on the second time.

    67 Wheel Stud Knurl

Hi all. I'm getting the parts ready to finally install my Mustang Steve disc brake swap and have hit a snag with finding new studs. I've measured the studs that were pressed out of my drums and got a diameter of 5/8ths (.625) for the knurled part and 39/64ths (.609) for the smooth part of the...

Oh plan to. My wallet won't, but I will. :)

AFR 185s too big for my 289?

AFR 165 cc vs AFR 185 cc Aluminum Cylinder Heads The dyno graph on page 2 sums it up pretty well. The entire article is a good read though.

AFR 185s too big for my 289?

I remember reading an article that compared AFR 165s to 185s on a 302. The 185s made more power across the entire rpm band, even at the bottom end. I don't remember what site it was on but google "Afr 165 vs 185" and you should find it. As an aside: I'm planning to run the 185 competition...

    opinions of side exhaust

You mean pressure gauges right? Strain gauges measure physical deformation. I want to do a similar test using digital pressure sensors on my hood to find high and low pressure zones for ventilation louvers.

Shock Tower Crack Repair: Which Manual for Dimensions?

Cracks are near the middle bottom by where the upper control arm mount is. There are two 3 pointed cracks, one on each side. As and engineer it looks everything like tensional cracking and based on the control arm looking like its never been greased I can guess why. Comparing the joint between...

Shock Tower Crack Repair: Which Manual for Dimensions?

Hey all. I was just "fortunate" enough while scraping underbody coating off my passenger shock tower interior (gotta love that gooey stuff) to find a nice pair of stress fractures. I've decided that I'll do the prep work of pulling the engine and realigning everything myself before having...

    289 / 302 4 Bolt Main Conversion?

Alrighty I appreciate the input. My application won't need a 4 bolt, just wanted to add one if I could for peace of mind.

    289 / 302 4 Bolt Main Conversion?

Hi all, I was recently reading an article on block selection Engine Blocks which casually mentioned that a 289 hipo 4 bolt main cap could be added to an ordinary block, but didn't go into any detail. A search (forums and google) hasn't revealed anything for a 289, just info on the conversion...

Electric Pump + carb fuel regulator ?s

Hi everyone. I'm doing a fairly long-term restomod on my 67 289 that will eventually involve a conversion to EFI. As things stand now I'd like to keep it carbed, but I need to replace the fuel system. My question is this, is it too much stress on a fuel regulator cutting down 45+ psi from an...

Tri-Y Headers on an EFI engine?

Hi all, I've been thinking about getting a set of Tri Y headers for the 289 in my '67. However, I'm a little concerned because on JBA's site the headers are listed for 64.5 -70 Mustangs. I just want to make sure they would work with later model engines, as an EFI swap is likely in the not too...

Ron Morris Street Force vs TCP coilover

Hi, I hate to ask this again because I know theres a post just like this buried somewhere in the forums, but after a couple hours search I still haven't found it. If anybody could answer the following queries or link me to an older discussion that would be fantastic. I'm trying to make a...

Any way to identify if my bumper is OEM or repo?

Hey everyone I just pulled my bumper today while removing the valence and a fender and after getting up close to it noticed the finish is looking pretty crappy. If its an original part I'd like to get it rechromed, otherwise I'd just as soon replace it with another repo. Should OEM parts have...

    Hybrid Engine in '67 Mustang?

I'm by no means an expert in automotive engineering (geologic engineer actually :)), but in my opinion doing what you propose would pretty much require you to buy a more or less full hybrid to scavenge the parts from because as mentioned above those vehicles are HIGHLY integrated. Additionally...
