Special Tools For 5.0 Fox Mustangs

set of stubby 12pt box end wrenches for getting those pesky long tube header bolts torqued down (in my case that's a 7/16ths)

Anybody Ever Hurt A Spec Clutch?

I fried a Hayes metallic, welded a Ram HD metallic, had obscene clutch chatter with both. After a lot of phone calls to tech support types the answer was McLeod RXT for 500hp, 5000 rpm clutch drops on slicks, none of the other brands wanted any part of the package I'm running. Post install and...

Only 60 Ft Lbs On Harmonic Balancer Bolt???????????

I have been where you are at, there is just too much "give" in the drive train and brakes so about the time you get it all out you need to take another bite with the wrench and loose the loading on the bolt. You can put an impact gun on it but you won't know what the bolt is torqued to unless...

Help me create the "Surging Idle Checklist"

If we knew what ECU you are running and if you have a "tune" in it would help immensely, if it's a EEC-IV running a GUFB strategy and A9L calibration for instance I think I can answer most of your questions and even some suggestions as to what might be going on with your setup

Drivetrain To Much Play In Output Shaft ? Vid Inside.

I stand corrected, you are right about the drive shaft yoke riding in the tail shaft bushing and the fore and aft movement-brain fart- however he is asking about noises from the transmission, the output shaft movement and his speedo going whacko, apparently about the same time. So I'm back to...

Drivetrain To Much Play In Output Shaft ? Vid Inside.

The easiest and cheapest part of your situation are the speedo gears, they are relatively cheap and readily available including the spring clip that holds the gear that goes on the tail shaft so don't worry about your speedo, worry about how much damage to the "hard parts" in the transmission...

Drivetrain To Much Play In Output Shaft ? Vid Inside.

YIKES! I suspect that with that much play in the output shaft that 5th gear, your speedo gear and who knows what all else is also in need of help. There is a tail shaft bushing for the output shaft that sits right in front of the rear seal you can see in your vid that is toast for sure.

Anyone Run Team Z Cc Plates

Don't know if your still looking for feedback but I'm running Team Z steel cc plates w/Strange coil overs and the setup is bullet proof. Fit, finish and quality of the plates are top notch. Front end alignment went well and in spite of many potholes the settings are still spot on so things don't...

Electrical Battery Discharging, 92 Lx 5.0

Just to add one item to jrichker's list of common culprits that can drive you nuts is the under hood light, the switch fails in the "on" position.

Help me create the "Surging Idle Checklist"

I have removed the information I posted as it was misleading and incorrect. The reason the car idled with the Ford MAF is because the EC was in "limp" mode and ignoring the O2 sensors. I discovered this while reviewing the data log and chasing down the problem with the driver side O2 not...

I have to believe that you have at least one "super wrench" working the back room that can change them out in their sleep that will help you

    Performance Clutch???

if your old clutch was slipping, yes otherwise I really doubt it with your setup unless the release point helps you shift faster

    EGR and Smog delete?

Here is a question to ponder. If the EGR requires you to run coolant lines in and out of the spacer plate you have a band of 195* water heating up your intake air right before it enters the intake. Has anyone data logged their IAT with and without the coolant lines hooked up? I have IAT numbers...

Noob Question about rear end posi

there is the easy way and the harder way...go out and "light 'em up" and if you leave two black stripes of rubber on the pavement (empty parking lot on a Sunday comes to mind), you have a posi, single tire stripe, no posi or it's worn out. The other way is to jack up the car and turn one rear...

Running at 185* with 160 thermostat?

even if you ran with no stat, if your cooling system can only pull enough heat to keep you in the 180/185 range, that's it. If it were my car, based on your mods, I'd be happy with those numbers idling in 100* weather. Your pulleys jump out at me as the reason why you can't get it to run cooler...

Edelbrock RPMII or TFS Track Heat????

this is like asking what's the best cam or exhaust for my car. I can offer my personal experience with an RPM II which I am running on a 347 and a TFS that I used to run, both with a TFS 2 cam. the RPM II pulls like a freight train right up to a 6500 redline but is soft on the bottom end. I ran...
